01:35 🔗 ersi 'course you do, DerpMax
02:16 🔗 illunatic HODOR
02:16 🔗 illunatic HODOR
03:27 🔗 cmx hmmm
03:39 🔗 Coderjoe is anyone interested in this dataset: http://paste.archivingyoursh.it/feruwibote.vbs
03:39 🔗 Coderjoe (it mis-identified the readme text as VBS)
03:39 🔗 Coderjoe I don't know if it was archived anywhere or is still available somewhere
03:40 🔗 Coderjoe the actual files have a date of 2006-07-26
03:42 🔗 Coderjoe it has pretty much just been using up space on my drive since I downloaded it in august of 2006
03:43 🔗 omf_ Coderjoe, I want it, I was looking for this aol data last year
03:43 🔗 omf_ how big is the file
03:43 🔗 Coderjoe 460,331,537 bytes
03:51 🔗 omf_ Didn't AOL try to take that material down because the anonymous nature of the data proved to be false
03:55 🔗 S[h]O[r]T im pretty sure it was a leak not actually put out by AOL
03:55 🔗 S[h]O[r]T or not
03:56 🔗 S[h]O[r]T https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AOL_search_data_leak http://search-logs.com/ http://www.aolstalker.com/
03:57 🔗 omf_ AOL is a pretty dumb company
03:57 🔗 S[h]O[r]T google exposes your search history to everyone too
03:58 🔗 S[h]O[r]T you know when you type things and it gets prefilled..
03:58 🔗 omf_ I do all my searches over a vpn that makes me look like someone else
03:59 🔗 omf_ AOL used to be so powerful but they did not adjust to the changing times
04:00 🔗 omf_ I was in 7th grade when the AOL stock hit $100 for the first time and split
04:08 🔗 omf_ ivan`, That is just one of the subject tags, I fix them later and I removed webcrawl from future linux stuff. I have an automated script to upload all this stuff
04:09 🔗 omf_ It was more useful for tracking before I had the collection to put everything in
04:40 🔗 Coderjoe http://tu.cnst.su/post/39584711234/why-microcenter-silicon-valley-is-no-more
04:52 🔗 underscor Hmm
04:53 🔗 underscor I wonder how hard it would be to get "student" status at UCSF
04:53 🔗 underscor Or even SFSU
04:53 🔗 * underscor sighs
04:54 🔗 underscor Ah, CCSF participates, neat!
06:27 🔗 omf_ anyone happen to grab this list http://arstechnica.com/security/2010/01/32-million-passwords-show-most-users-careless-about-security/
10:13 🔗 SmileyG anyone here played with tc for limiting bandwidth?
10:13 🔗 SmileyG I'm trying to slow my warrior upload a little as it's killing everything else, but failing :(
10:26 🔗 ivan` rsync is the biggest bufferbloat offender ever, there is no hope
10:27 🔗 ivan` (can you just add --bwlimit to some code that runs rsync in the warrior?)
10:30 🔗 SmileyG ivan`: I just wanna reduce it to like max 10% of my upload, then we are sorted :D
11:42 🔗 Coderjoe I've never managed to get tc's filtering rules to work. I cheat and use iptables' mangle table to classify traffic. (currently, I just have two tiers, the default, which is higher priority, and the mass upload traffic, which is the lower priority)
11:44 🔗 Coderjoe one big key is to limit your overall output to below your link's limit, to avoid bufferbloat in the modem/router/whateveryoucallit
11:49 🔗 SmileyG nod
11:49 🔗 SmileyG Coderjoe: I'm thinking i'm going to end up going that route too
11:49 🔗 SmileyG some of the filtering in TC is working but not all :/
11:56 🔗 dashcloud if you follow pinboard on twitter, he's looking for a web app to do the following: Here's a web app the world needs: for a given RAM/CPU/disk configuration, show a price list of dedicated servers from various providers. Right now the way people do this is by going to webhosting talk, a horrible forum site. Happy to work w/someone to get this built.

16:48 🔗 DFJustin http://www.macmess.org/downloads/Stream_Screen_Cast.mp4 https://github.com/tlindner/Stream
16:48 🔗 DFJustin cool project someone is working on to analyse coco data cassette recordings, and generalizable to other data types
16:51 🔗 balrog DFJustin: it supports quite a bit more than coco data cassette types already
16:51 🔗 balrog main downside for many people is that it's written in Obj-C, since that restricts it (for now) to Mac OS
16:51 🔗 balrog there is a ton of potential though.
17:01 🔗 godane so i found this guy: http://thepiratebay.sx/user/judgecal/

23:45 🔗 dashcloud good news US folks: the government is aware of the patent troll problem and is actually trying to work towards fixing the worst issues: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2013/06/04/fact-sheet-white-house-task-force-high-tech-patent-issues Study report here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/docs/patent_report.pdf
