17:17 🔗 Kazzy going out on a limb here, anyone know of any sort of rpogram that I can use to run scripts/programs in windows easily?
17:18 🔗 RedType like... double clicking it?
17:18 🔗 Kazzy as in, tap a key on my keyboard, have the program pop up over everything else, and ask me what I want to do.. and then do it
17:18 🔗 RedType uhh... yeah, if you right click an executable in windows, i believe in properties there's a way to bind it to a keyboard shortcut
17:18 🔗 RedType i am not a windows user, though.
17:19 🔗 Kazzy that sounds nice, but I want something where i can add my own scripts/stuff to
17:19 🔗 Kazzy maybe I'm bad at explaining this :p

17:33 🔗 aaaaaaaaa oh, you wanted an alternative to the start menu search bar, got it
17:34 🔗 Kazzy basically, but with the ability to run random little batch files/scripts i have sitting around in random folders, that don't turn up in start menu search
17:35 🔗 RedType has joined #archiveteam-bs
17:35 🔗 aaaaaaaaa well, you could change the index or if they are fairly static do what I do: make a new folder, fill it with shortcuts to your programs, make a shortcut to that folder and add a shortcut key.
17:36 🔗 aaaaaaaaa that way, pressing the combination opens the folder in explorer

19:22 🔗 wacky I'm curious - How many people here work in the archiving realm vs do it as a hobby/side project/etc
19:23 🔗 wacky Personally for me, I didn't realize it existed until I interviewed/landed a job
19:24 🔗 Smiley hobby.
19:24 🔗 ersi_ Not many here work professionally with archivation
19:24 🔗 ersi_ I'd say most does not, for what I have gathered.
19:25 🔗 wacky suppose it makes sense - its a pretty small industry, yet is groing incredibly fast
19:25 🔗 wacky growing
19:26 🔗 ersi_ I guess
19:27 🔗 ersi_ Could also be because there's plenty of stiffies in professional archiving
19:27 🔗 ersi_ is now known as ersi

19:34 🔗 godane its sort of a hobby for me
19:35 🔗 godane but also cause i see things that need to be archived that you guys don't have
19:37 🔗 xmc you have different priorities
19:37 🔗 xmc which is good
19:38 🔗 ersi I can imagine I'd find myself being somewhat frustrated in a professional archiving company/institution
19:38 🔗 ersi A lot more process and standards and what not instead of the saving and archiving action which I find interesting
19:38 🔗 xmc mmm yeah
19:38 🔗 ersi Not to de-value the work done in professional settings, just not my cup of tea
19:39 🔗 wacky Its certainly chalenging work at times but can't complain
19:40 🔗 wacky archiving and then getting said content to display after the fact can be a bitch
