02:41 🔗 joepie91 Xibalba: so the disk space needed depends on the project you run - when running scripts manually, you will need to set up individual project scripts, and can't use the "archiveteam's choice" thing to switch automatically
02:42 🔗 joepie91 Xibalba: the local copy is deleted after uploading it to the collection server, so generally you should assume that you need (average item size * number of threads) in disk space, plus some spare
02:42 🔗 joepie91 so let's say double that
02:42 🔗 joepie91 the average item size can vary wildly by project - for simple sites it'll often be something like 1MB per item or so, for stuff like video hosts it can easily be 300+MB per item
02:43 🔗 joepie91 you'll usually only run a few threads; the default in the warrior is 2, I think
02:43 🔗 joepie91 tl;dr you don't need a lot of disk space, unless you run into a particularly big item
02:43 🔗 joepie91 and disk space is only used while the item is being downloaded and uploaded

04:31 🔗 GLaDOS when did we do the filefront archive? i remember it being earlier than 2016 for some reason..
04:31 🔗 Lord_Nigh Somebody2: still no response from info@
06:43 🔗 koon has joined #archiveteam-bs
06:59 🔗 robogoat kittymeow: mailnet is pretty powerful. If you can mail a usb flash drive with a lot of your stuff, that might be the best route.
07:00 🔗 robogoat I am in a city with google fiber, so apparently I could go to the google store and get symmetric 1Gbps if I plugged in.
07:00 🔗 robogoat But, then after my head exploded, I'm unsure what I would do.
08:14 🔗 HCross2 Lord_Nigh: info@ seem to be very slow ATM. Emailed on the 23rd about changing my donation and I've not heard a peep

12:24 🔗 timmc alembic: Channel name ideas for imzy:
12:24 🔗 timmc #imzynot - One name for denizens of Imzy is "imzynauts"
12:24 🔗 timmc #imzy-extinction - The mascot is a dinosaur

16:39 🔗 Frogging lol @ "why don't you guys use Discord"
16:39 🔗 Frogging smh
16:43 🔗 joepie91 Frogging: it's unfortunately a question I've been seeing in more and more places
17:35 🔗 Nazca I understand having the "core" here, however I'm sure it'd make more warriors join if the main place of discussion became a more accessible community
17:35 🔗 Nazca that said I'm not being pushy here, just explaining my reasoning before
17:36 🔗 dashcloud has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out)
17:43 🔗 JAA In my opinion, if anything, relying on a proprietary software makes it less accessible, not more. And accessing IRC is really easy through the webclient.

17:44 🔗 godane SketchCow: i have some of the Imus in the Morning in KCAA Radio Shows and Podcasts collection

18:33 🔗 Marcelo has joined #archiveteam-bs
18:36 🔗 Marcelo @Xibalba: Back in 2015 I was able to compile wget-lua for ARMv6 and run scripts directly. At least in my Raspberry Pi (Raspbian) and my Samsung phone (Android). Used a flash drive formatted as ext2 for storage.
18:38 🔗 joepie91 Nazca: there's also the concern of end-user support. if one is not technically competent enough to use a web IRC client, then they will likely also run into issues running the Warrior, and they may become a bigger drain on volunteer time than they're worth, contribution-wise
18:38 🔗 joepie91 Nazca: so you don't necessarily always want to attract everybody you can
18:43 🔗 j08nY has joined #archiveteam-bs
