[14:27]

[14:30]

JAAStill Connection refused. [14:33]
SketchCowps -ax | grep sync [14:34]
godaneCannot connect to fortressofsolitude.textfiles.com: Connection refused [14:34]
SketchCowShow me the IP you see [14:34]
JAAFOS resolves to 208.70.31.102, is that the correct IP?
Heh, great minds etc.
For the record, I'm using the authorative nameservers, so this should not be related to propagation.
[14:34]
SketchCowThis is not propogation.
That's the right IP, that's the new machine.
I hate adminning
I'm sure there's some twitchy little oh no thing
[14:35]

SketchCowI think what's going on is that the two machines are differently firewalled.
There's a chance the new one doesn't have the firewall settings, I've pinged our admin, our network guy, and will keep looking.

I mean, I'm sure it'll work

zinoJAA: Gdrive has an unlimited plan?
Closest thing I can find is unlimited group storage with Google Apps for Education.
[16:06]
JAAzino: They do, I think it's called "Google Apps for Business".
Officially, only accounts with five or more users get unlimited storage, but that's not enforced, i.e. also single-user accounts are unlimited.
There is a limit of 700 GB traffic (not sure if only upload or both directions) per 24 hours though.
All this is coming from /r/DataHoarder, I don't use it myself.
[16:10]
***Chorca has joined #archiveteam-bs [16:12]
zinoHmm. My scientists can easily produce and store 700G/day if I let them. I wonder for how long Google would let me get away with that...
700G extra I should say. They use up the local Petabytes quickly enough.
zino plots setting up several parallel $50/month accounts to up the available storage/day.

JAAFTP works for me as well. [17:16]
godaneit works with ftp command line
i use gftp
now this is weird
i get connection refused even after login works
ftp> ls
227 Entering Passive Mode (208,70,31,102,255,249).
ftp: connect: Connection refused
ok login works on gftp but data connection doesn't
[17:16]
SketchCowSo, there's likely to be some limit in ftp
By default, all the ports are blocked per a firewall
So I have to release them
Let me see if we're missing a port related to FTP
[17:22]
godanei was going think the problem was this: https://superuser.com/questions/356138/cant-connect-to-ftp-server-425-unable-to-build-data-connection-connection-tim
but after check it also doesn't work
[17:24]
SketchCowIt might be you have sftp or something.
I don't want you changing anything. let me look at the settings to see if I'm missing something.

SketchCowAlso, bandwidth to the new FOS won't be any faster or slower than previous FOS
Speaking of bandwidth
Do people know about fast.com
There's speedtest.net
But all providers now have rules to blast open the doors for speedtest.net, so it seems they're fast
But fast is run by Netflix
Which means the companies would have to blast open the doors to Netflix
Which they won't do
so you get the REAL speed
I like that

Froggingspeedtest.net uses many different servers run by many different companies. ISPs would have to add specific rules for all of them. I still wouldn't put it past them though [18:38]
joepie91Frogging: it's pretty trivial to just look at the server list speedtest.net uses :P
this isn't a manual process

ha ha, you're fucking adorable
Wait
A company
In a single business
might demand one of their people
work endlessly
to ensure that they look as good as possible in the one main thing people check
Fun fact
Did you ever read about exactly how Volkswagen did those cheats to get around pollution testing
[18:57]
godaneok fixed [18:59]
SketchCowThe nuclear-level engineering that went into ensuring it would both lie about how much pollution it was pushing out while still being safe for people [18:59]
Froggingoh sure, I just wondered about how they might do it since it's many servers and not just one. but as joepie91 pointed out, the list is public and the collateral is probably negligible [19:00]
SketchCowhttps://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?page_id=1022
