WhoWhatWhen
SketchCowAll I can say is thank cthulu for zip -m [00:02]
astrid\m/ [00:02]
...... (idle for 27mn)
odemggodane, mirroring myspleen while it's on fl, it's 79TB all in. [00:29]
SketchCowodemg: The Manga load-in has consumed the entirety of FOS, good job
Consumed for weeks
[00:31]
odemgSketchCow, I did offer 30x750GB drives... working with someone else now to get a colo in ca solely for archiveteam rsync [00:32]
SketchCowI need to get better with that
For 2018 we really need to audit the whole of Archiveteam's resources
[00:32]
odemgagreed [00:33]
SketchCowMake sure we're both on top of things and have power and prevent people from innocently sending the apparatus on wild terabyte goosechases [00:33]
odemgtrue, vidme was another eye opener
SketchCow, still working on peering for the colo, ias main transit is wave right?
[00:34]
SketchCowI don't know [00:35]
Kazyes
https://monitor.archive.org/weathermap/weathermap.html
[00:35]
***jacketcha has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [00:36]
odemgKaz, ta [00:36]
***jacketcha has joined #archiveteam-bs [00:37]
odemgso that's on the 10G at sfmix then, hmm [00:38]
KazOn the topic of rsync targets.. I've just picked up a decent machine I may colo in the future. Would actually need to stick some drives in it, but i've got 12 3.5" bays so could get it pretty beefy [00:49]
odemgKaz, still waiting on donors to get another 40TB online for the-eye.eu, spare space on that box is always used for at/ia stuffs running newsgrabber 247 atm going to cost $250 to get another 40TB online [01:02]
SketchCowI was not allowed (by my own choice) to fundraise for Not The Archive during December.
End of year fundraising, etc.
But I can help coming up
[01:07]
astrid: https://archive.org/details/archiveteam_yahooanswers_gathering
I'd wait a little bit until the data settles in the system, but it's all there.
[01:13]
odemgSketchCow, server bill is due on the 2nd, we're $170 short this month but our community miners are on track to cover server costs from February onwards (https://the-eye.eu/leaderboards/) and the $250 to get that 40TB spun up will likely come out of my pocket as it's waiting patiently https://i.imgur.com/u6sb73x.jpg :3 [01:14]
SketchCowHa ha
Fascinating.
This is the first exact second I've learned about any of this
[01:15]
odemgSketchCow, stuff like the manga usually passes through the eyes server at some time or I hand you such things that's too large for us to serve long term :p [01:17]
SketchCowI mean, I'm fascinated [01:18]
odemgI've also stopped serving up so much porn... kinda, mostly. [01:18]
Kazis that $250 just for shipping / remote hands? [01:19]
odemgraid card / install on my colo (saves me making the 18 hour round trip and gas) [01:20]
SketchCowWhat territory is this hosted [01:21]
odemgmain server is out of prague with 10gbps.io and backup is out of nl at smartdc [01:22]
SketchCowThe only thing missing from this thing is gun running and a marijuana cafe [01:22]
odemgtrue, though the community has it's resident stoners so we're getting there [01:25]
SketchCowI can't fundraise for this openly.
It's essentially a less mercenary pirate bay
And with muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better aesthetics
I like it, Egyptian-temple whorehouse
[01:25]
odemgDo it closedly? <3 And thanks, we just just overhauled the design :) [01:27]
SketchCowSurely you can make these people in the discord do some donating [01:31]
odemgthey already did, collectively around $1500 so far, biggest donor dropped us $305 last month, someone usually covers us last minute but with the holidays just passing and draining everyones wallets it's cutting it fine this month
we're entirely covered by donors and moving forward by them also mining for us, minimum cash out on monero is a twat we're at 0.3 and need 0.5 to cash out we're looking at feburary being the first month covered by community mined crypto
[01:35]
SketchCowThe mining thing is a great example of where I won't get general buy-in [01:38]
odemg? [01:40]
SketchCowSuper-pretty design though
Real-time statistics amusing
[01:40]
odemgThe mining is purely opt-in btw, with the support of everyone before we implemented it [01:42]
SketchCowI know
It's just.... sketchy
it's like MLM
A bunch of good people with good goals
[01:44]
odemgHmm, I don't disagree but as long as files stay up, all cash goes toward the keeping the files online and we're transparent with our backers nobody seems to mind, I'll be happy to see first month paid with crypto as I was hesitant to give it a chance in the first place [01:48]
godaneSketchCow: so i got some interest docs coming
one is called The Internet that aired on pbs in i think 1996
[01:49]
odemgohh docus, nice, ping me when up [01:50]
godanecopyright is 1994
the tape or signal is very fuss in parts of this tape
[01:50]
ok its called The Internet Show
odemg: here is better copy then what i gothttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzqMrhG50q0
[01:56]
odemggodane, also will be actively mirroring myspleen from now on btw, rough plan to serve it back to a select few given size it'll have to be a 1TB/day type deal.... for now, I mean curated stuffs can end up at ia, admin nuked that 1TB dump.
I got those cowboy in africa vhs restores to my dad for christmas too, he's been asking for it over the last 10 years after i said something like 'you can find anything online dad'... it's been a long wait xD

SketchCowIn other news, I have devised a way to rip metadata on manga to put it into the archive's collection
Only problem is I have to tell it the source and destination
