02:33 πŸ”— SketchCow I've been doing... things
02:33 πŸ”— SketchCow So, quickly:
02:34 πŸ”— SketchCow We had a fiber cut 1.1km from the data center, at a junction box, in Richmond CA (which is different than the Richmond District of SF, which is where HQ is).
02:34 πŸ”— SketchCow The fiber people took a fucking nap and spent 12 hours before they got someone to fly in and fix it and do the splicing, I expect yelling
02:34 πŸ”— SketchCow Once they actually showed, they fixed it in about 2 hours.
02:34 πŸ”— SketchCow Both datacenters (SF and Richmond) stayed up during all this, so some functions stayed going, because they used minor connections.
02:35 πŸ”— SketchCow We TRIED to shift things to our smaller connections, but as you can imagine, The Archive bandwidth is no small fuckin' potatoes. So TV worked, the rest didn't.
02:35 πŸ”— SketchCow NEXT
02:35 πŸ”— SketchCow Webcite is doomed, we should archive it whenever it shows. The guy's a tool.
02:35 πŸ”— SketchCow And it's basically one guy
02:36 πŸ”— SketchCow FOS was redirected to Fusl, who took the load while IA's net connection jacked off, thanks to Fusl for doing that. Glad it was relatively short.
02:36 πŸ”— SketchCow Like everything else, FOS stayed around the whole time, no power outage, just bored as fuck and wondering why it didn't get any good info
02:39 πŸ”— SketchCow luckcolor: Do what you want, don't ask for permission
02:39 πŸ”— SketchCow Ask for permission when it leans on resources
02:39 πŸ”— SketchCow Do all the research you want

10:54 πŸ”— Fusl_ JAA: i need to borrow your brain when you're around
11:12 πŸ”— Fusl JAA and others: i need a way to scrape all followers and friends of a specific twitter account without using the official API or account credentials. any way i could do that?

12:03 πŸ”— s4y has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out)
12:10 πŸ”— s4y has joined #archiveteam-bs
12:15 πŸ”— JAA Fusl: I believe that followers and followees are only accessible when logged in. So I don't think that's possible. Retweets are also not possible with snscrape since the search doesn't return them. Mentioned users should be possible by using --format '{content}' plus grep, sed, or similar. You could also get users that tweeted at a particular account with snscrape twitter-search 'to:username'
12:16 πŸ”— Fusl JAA: wanna add an implementation into snscrape to print all the mentioned profile urls along with each tweet url? would make auto discovery for me much easier
12:17 πŸ”— s4y has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out)
12:27 πŸ”— JAA Fusl: Hmm, I guess I could add something like outlinks/outlinksss for mentioned users and perhaps also the previous user if it's a reply to someone else's tweet. I'll look into that.

15:15 πŸ”— jrwr @Arkiver2 you might want to get in on this as well
15:18 πŸ”— Fusl jrwr: this is irc, no @ needed :P

17:45 πŸ”— Fusl whoops
17:45 πŸ”— Fusl i thought this was -bs
17:45 πŸ”— JAA So... bridge? Yes, bridges are often awful, but if we do want to get people on board who use Discord and don't want to figure out IRC, then that might be a viable solution.
17:45 πŸ”— archghost has joined #archiveteam-bs
17:46 πŸ”— JAA I'm not convinced we want that though.
17:47 πŸ”— DogsRNice has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
17:47 πŸ”— Kaz One thing I want to clear up ASAP is how many channel we've got in discord already: https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/23lCYHZV/image.png
17:48 πŸ”— Kaz if we're doing this, imo each channel should be linked to an irc channel (other than bot-related shit)
17:48 πŸ”— Kaz everything else needs to be deleted
17:48 πŸ”— Kaz there will never be enough traffic in any of the infra channels to justify their existence
17:48 πŸ”— Kaz #archiveteam, -bs and -ot only
17:48 πŸ”— Kaz cc jrwr
18:01 πŸ”— hook54321 I think bibanon uses a bridge, it seems to work okay for them. I'm a little hesitant on if we want to bridge with a discord server though since it might attract angry people that otherwise wouldn't have been able to figure out IRC.
18:02 πŸ”— PurpleSym If we’re not going for bridging then we will end up with separate communities at some point.
18:03 πŸ”— Kaz kicks/bans still work on discord, that doesn't change anything imo
18:47 πŸ”— jrwr I'll setup a bridge for the main channels
18:48 πŸ”— jrwr Already looked into it
18:54 πŸ”— jrwr Im going to bridge archiveteam archiveteam-bs and archiveteam-ot
18:54 πŸ”— jrwr setting up a dedicated VPS with Hetzner now
18:54 πŸ”— jrwr So, What EFNet server is the most stable right now?
18:56 πŸ”— jrwr irc.servercentral.net seems pretty good
18:57 πŸ”— luckcolor yeah a bridge is a good idea
18:57 πŸ”— luckcolor i've been to another discord wich used that and it helps
18:58 πŸ”— archghost can you please bridge to the matrix as well?
18:58 πŸ”— jrwr Ill look into it as well
18:59 πŸ”— hook54321 This is what bibanon uses for bridging https://github.com/42wim/matterbridge
19:00 πŸ”— hook54321 Someone in the matrix channel told me it looks ugly and recommended these instead, i know nothing about them https://github.com/Half-Shot/matrix-appservice-discord, https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-appservice-irc
19:04 πŸ”— JAA jrwr: They're all bad really. Port80 has been pretty stable the last few months.
19:23 πŸ”— AT-Bridge has joined #archiveteam-bs
19:24 πŸ”— AT-Bridge <JRWR> Hello from Discord
19:25 πŸ”— PurpleSym jrwr: Is it possible to have 1:1 user mapping instead of a dedicated bridge user?
19:25 πŸ”— jrwr not in IRC
19:25 πŸ”— jrwr but in discord, if your name matches, it will be there
19:30 πŸ”— PurpleSym Well, that sucks.
19:30 πŸ”— jrwr its a IRC limitation
19:30 πŸ”— JAA Only possible if you either open a connection to IRC for every user on Discord (bad) or run your own IRC server.
19:30 πŸ”— jrwr Ya
19:33 πŸ”— AT-Bridge <Fusl> welllllllllllllllllllllllll i know someone who has a server with many ip addresses attached :P

19:35 πŸ”— atbrdg has joined #archiveteam-bs
19:36 πŸ”— hook54321 I believe that's how matrix-appservice-irc does it :/
19:37 πŸ”— PurpleSym There’s two modes and yes, one of them creates one connection per user. (Full disclosure: I’m on matrix right now.)
19:37 πŸ”— atbrdg <Fusl> i tried matrix on weechat but couldnt get it working
19:37 πŸ”— atbrdg <Fusl> i mean, i have it working now but for some reason i cant join any channels and dont know enough about matrix to figure out why not
19:38 πŸ”— PurpleSym Does it work with, say, the web client (Riot)?
19:38 πŸ”— atbrdg <Fusl> i guess it would
19:39 πŸ”— JAA I guess the question is: do the admins of the used EFnet server have a problem with it? And the answer to that probably depends on the number of users.
19:39 πŸ”— hook54321 PurpleSym: for single-person bridges I'm sure it's fine, but I'm under the impression EFNet wouldn't be a fan of someone operating a big multi-user bridge.
19:40 πŸ”— JAA A number of servers don't allow any bots in the first place, so...
19:42 πŸ”— WareN2000 has joined #archiveteam-bs

20:32 πŸ”— SketchCow The discord is already a 4/10 idea, this would make it a -4/10
20:55 πŸ”— SketchCow Fusl: Right now, FOS is doing a number of projects, hence only a few TB free
20:59 πŸ”— SketchCow It was at 5tb filled, now down to 1.1tb (on Archivebot) for example
21:08 πŸ”— SketchCow Every time I try to stick my hand into the archivebot uploader, something gets the fuck snapped out of it
21:08 πŸ”— SketchCow I could take a shot.
21:08 πŸ”— SketchCow It takes it 2 minutes to upload 5gb.
21:14 πŸ”— SketchCow OK, I took a shot. There's now an archiveteam surgical uploader
21:14 πŸ”— Fusl a what
21:21 πŸ”— Igloo A big hammer.
21:22 πŸ”— Igloo Also, Discord, No ta, I have enough with work slack, teams, webex teams, skype for business. Then all the phone whatsapp yada yada
21:26 πŸ”— JAA SketchCow: If we don't want bridges (and I agree they're ... not great), then I suggest not starting chats on other platforms. The community split is unavoidable otherwise.

23:36 πŸ”— SketchCow What I can do is make the discord be its own thing and say, as always, that #archiveteam on #EFNet and the related channels are the official channels
23:36 πŸ”— SketchCow And if someone ever goes "but it was on the discord", fffffffffffffffff
