01:21 πŸ”— miceheavn has joined #archiveteam-ot
01:22 πŸ”— ivan miceheavn: already have that channel you mentioned
01:22 πŸ”— miceheavn Entire thing?
01:22 πŸ”— hook54321 I don't think he hates all uses of it, but massively mirroring stuff like infowars or Alex Jones stuff when it's still up on youtube is a bad idea.
01:22 πŸ”— ivan yes
01:23 πŸ”— miceheavn https://www.youtube.com/user/JamesNintendoNerd
01:23 πŸ”— miceheavn ?
01:24 πŸ”— miceheavn About Nintendo stuff, and we all know how uncooperative they are...
01:25 πŸ”— ivan archiving, had it up to last year
01:25 πŸ”— miceheavn Let me find my list...
01:26 πŸ”— miceheavn https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4rqhyiTs7XyuODcECvuiiQ ?
01:26 πŸ”— miceheavn More Nintendo
01:27 πŸ”— ivan had it, grabbing most recent few
01:27 πŸ”— miceheavn https://www.youtube.com/user/FamicomDojo ?
01:27 πŸ”— ivan new one, grabbing
01:27 πŸ”— ivan /nick youtubebot
01:27 πŸ”— miceheavn Haha
01:28 πŸ”— miceheavn Most of the time I run into the s3 error
01:28 πŸ”— miceheavn Anyway, thank you!
01:28 πŸ”— Flashfire Ivan who is jeff?
01:28 πŸ”— ivan Jeff is your god if you want to insert content into IA
01:29 πŸ”— ivan if you send an email to IA Jeff is probably the one ignoring your incoherent request
01:31 πŸ”— JAA hook54321, ivan: New version 0.1.3 of snscrape is out. Disabled Twitter's quality filter and improved the log messages for errors.
01:31 πŸ”— qwebirc49 has joined #archiveteam-ot
01:31 πŸ”— ivan thanks!
01:31 πŸ”— JAA I'm not sure if you can upgrade the package with pip directly since it's from a git repo. Might have to uninstall and install again.
01:31 πŸ”— ivan just install again
01:31 πŸ”— qwebirc49 is now known as m1ceheavn
01:31 πŸ”— JAA Or that. :-)
01:32 πŸ”— Flashfire Can we have a GUI for it? Or something that works similar lol.
01:32 πŸ”— ivan weren't you learning the command line
01:32 πŸ”— dxrt psh
01:32 πŸ”— JAA Flashfire: I replied to that in your issue.
01:32 πŸ”— miceheavn has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
01:32 πŸ”— JAA I won't implement a GUI.
01:32 πŸ”— Flashfire Oh yeah that’s right. Yeah ivan I was working on it very slowly
01:32 πŸ”— m1ceheavn is now known as miceheavn
01:33 πŸ”— Flashfire I should learn how to click on terminal by the time the year is out
01:33 πŸ”— miceheavn has quit IRC (Client Quit)
01:33 πŸ”— JAA Still better than some people I know...
01:33 πŸ”— Flashfire Do I want to know JAA?
01:34 πŸ”— ivan maybe make yourself an Anki deck with the CLI things you're learning
01:34 πŸ”— JAA Eh, just the usual complete incompetence regarding anything remotely related to "modern" technology.
01:35 πŸ”— JAA Where "modern" means anything after the 70s or so.
01:36 πŸ”— hook54321 Sometimes accounts get locked due to false-positives in spam-sweeps. Mine got locked when I was uploading some stuff awhile ago, I emailed info@archive.org, and Jeff said "i suspect it was a false-positive in a spam sweep". Be mindful about what you put through tubeup and you'll be less likely to run into issues.
01:36 πŸ”— hook54321 I'm hoping at some point there will be an open source project that allows Google Drive to be used to store videos until they get deleted and then they would get uploaded to archive.org if they are deleted. I'm sure it would reduce concerns and unnecessary resource usage over at IA.
01:37 πŸ”— ivan I have a system like that but it's made of at least 10 parts
01:37 πŸ”— hook54321 ah, didn't know it was like that.
01:38 πŸ”— ivan it would be a lot simpler to just send me money for more archiving
01:38 πŸ”— hook54321 I have a free unlimited Google Drive account with a community college though
01:38 πŸ”— ivan so, 1TB/day?
01:39 πŸ”— hook54321 uhhh, idk
01:39 πŸ”— ivan and get all your content deleted after you leave
01:39 πŸ”— hook54321 well
01:39 πŸ”— hook54321 I'm not taking any classes there right now and my account is still active
01:39 πŸ”— JAA It depends on the school, right?
01:39 πŸ”— JAA From what I've read, some let their alumni keep the accounts as well.
01:40 πŸ”— ivan DataHoarder post suggests Google is helping schools clean out everyone with over 1TB in their account
01:40 πŸ”— ivan and the guy posting didn't even have 1TB :-)
01:40 πŸ”— JAA (And yeah, I know there was that thread on /r/DataHoarder about Google forcing schools to kick out alumni, but that thread was a bit weird, and I haven't heard it anywhere else than that one post.)
01:43 πŸ”— hook54321 If that did happen, theoretically of the videos that were deleted from archive.org would have already been uploaded. So I would just need to regrab everything again.
01:43 πŸ”— hook54321 *were deleted from youtube
01:43 πŸ”— hook54321 not archive.org
01:45 πŸ”— ivan since the bottleneck is daily writes to gdrive, your redownload would set you back quite a bit
01:46 πŸ”— ivan anyway don't use accounts that you're not paying for and are under someone else's control
01:48 πŸ”— ivan I've spent approximately $3240 archiving 12M YouTube videos, seems like a pretty good deal
01:53 πŸ”— ivan $0.00027/video
01:53 πŸ”— ivan thanks Google for footing ~97% of the bill
02:07 πŸ”— JAA sets mode: +oo ivan hook54321

12:11 πŸ”— JAA kiskabak: I know, but that's still limited in how much you can upload. The limit is 1 TB per day IIRC, but I don't know whether that's per user or per business (probably the former).
12:12 πŸ”— JAA w0rmhole: "Facebook sucks" is the reason. It's a known issue. My scraper doesn't work on all profiles for some reason, but I didn't have time to analyse that in detail yet.
12:16 πŸ”— BlueMax has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
12:21 πŸ”— Flashfire I need to do something more productive with my time than watch human centipede 2

12:25 πŸ”— Meroje gdrive? it works with api service accounts too
12:30 πŸ”— ivan Flashfire: you have access to good movies, right?
12:32 πŸ”— ivan try Ghost in the Shell (1995) or Akira (1988) or Whisper of the Heart (1995) and no English dubs please
12:36 πŸ”— Flashfire None of them are on Australian Netflix so I’m rewatching death note

19:37 πŸ”— betamax so I've been a twat and partially overwritten a file on Linux with ext4
19:37 πŸ”— betamax (I was using arecord, stopped recording, then started again without changing the file it was writing to)
19:38 πŸ”— betamax I realised after a second and stopped it
19:38 πŸ”— betamax the original recording was about 1 hour
19:38 πŸ”— betamax what are the chances I can get the file back?

19:51 πŸ”— betamax thanks for the advice, will try and report back
20:17 πŸ”— Despatche has quit IRC (Quit: Error: Connection reset by peer)
20:52 πŸ”— JAA As always, the first advice should be to unmount and take a copy of the whole block device.
20:52 πŸ”— JAA betamax: ^
20:54 πŸ”— JAA I have reconstructed a file from the raw disk data before (i.e. discovering all relevant blocks and merging them back together), but I knew the file contents to some extent so I could actually discover those blocks fairly easily. (It was still a PITA though.)
20:55 πŸ”— JAA That was after a similar situation (inadvertently overwriting an existing file).
