00:07 🔗 JackWS BT throttled my bandwidth yesterday after archiving for a day
00:07 🔗 JackWS was at 10mbps download >:|
00:46 🔗 amerrykan SketchCow: you around?
00:47 🔗 amerrykan Please reach out to this gentleman: http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5123.0
00:49 🔗 amerrykan you can reach him under nicks 'NFXg' or 'NFG' here on EFNet
00:50 🔗 winr4r "and I'll cut the books apart and scan every page"
00:50 🔗 winr4r :\
00:50 🔗 amerrykan right
00:51 🔗 amerrykan from what he says, it's necessary due to the way the magazines are assembled, but I thought it'd be better to leave that up to an expert
00:52 🔗 amerrykan if the content can be salvaged without destruction, i'm sure he's be happy to cover (or have donations cover) roundtrip shipping
00:52 🔗 winr4r yes
00:53 🔗 winr4r sketch'll be around soon enough, so stick around
00:53 🔗 amerrykan OK, thanks
01:25 🔗 DFJustin afaik you only need to cut if you're trying to use a flatbed or sheet feeder and not the nifty ia style glass plate scan machines
01:25 🔗 dashcloud the high-end scanners can do practically anything without needing to damage the book- the ones I've seen all have an adjustable cradle design, so you can adjust to fit the page size
02:10 🔗 dashcloud hi folks, did I make a mistake or something here trying to add cover images: http://archive.org/details/25EducationGames
02:59 🔗 dashcloud so, what am I doing wrong compared to this item with a cover image? http://archive.org/details/cdrom-doom-accessories
03:20 🔗 DFJustin you have to trigger a derive, it won't use png directly
03:20 🔗 DFJustin go to edit item, change information, item manager link at top, derive button
03:21 🔗 DFJustin for reasons I don't understand this is not automatic when adding new files through the web interface
03:30 🔗 SketchCow I know, it's silly.
03:31 🔗 SketchCow I ran the deriver for you, dashcloud
03:32 🔗 BlueMax hey, I'm not silly :(
03:33 🔗 dashcloud okay- I feel a lot better now
03:37 🔗 dashcloud thanks everyone!
03:46 🔗 DFJustin of course now you have the issue that only the first file in alphabetical order will be used
05:10 🔗 RedType well that sucks. i can't go to defcon this year.
05:10 🔗 RedType and this is the wrong window
05:14 🔗 Acebulf :(
05:40 🔗 SketchCow DEFCOOONNNN
05:55 🔗 GLaDOS Ah, DEFCON. One day..
05:56 🔗 BlueMax one day indeed
21:39 🔗 dashcloud SketchCow: did you see this post from amerrykan last night? http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=5123.0
21:42 🔗 amerrykan Lawrence (NFXg) is currently lurking here if you want to chat with him about it
21:51 🔗 balrog interesting; I have a similar problem (a lot of paper to scan), except that I have two duplexing scanners already...
22:16 🔗 SketchCow Yeah, I saw that.
22:35 🔗 NFXg indeed I am lurking here. Now exposed, thanks merry.
22:44 🔗 balrog :P
22:44 🔗 balrog putting together a good workflow to process this data is where I'm at atm
22:45 🔗 balrog I mean, can I just dump tars of .tiffs into IA and will it produce nice PDFs for me? :)
22:46 🔗 DFJustin haven't tested with .tar but you certainly can with .zip
22:46 🔗 DFJustin the niceness of the pdf will depend a lot on the type of material though
23:08 🔗 PepsiMax what, max 6? http://i.imgur.com/2kLX0io.png
23:16 🔗 antomatic that can happen sometimes, pepsimax - if you refresh it'll usually show you just the 6 that are really running. (Those other ones are old jobs that have finished, or 'ghost' duplicates of current jobs)
23:16 🔗 PepsiMax :p
23:22 🔗 PepsiMax ok fin
23:22 🔗 PepsiMax e
23:40 🔗 SketchCow You do a zip.
23:41 🔗 SketchCow A zip of TIFFs.
23:41 🔗 SketchCow Done.
23:44 🔗 balrog a zip of ordered tiffs, upload to IA, and done? alright.
23:44 🔗 balrog I can do that :)
23:50 🔗 SketchCow Yes.
23:50 🔗 SketchCow Call it .zip or cbz, both work.
