[05:20] is there something that should be done when wikipedia redirects to a dead/no longer around site? [05:22] 28 weeks later wikipedia has a listing of ragevirus.com and it no longer is up. but IA has it in wayback. in the one i’ve checked so far the flash content is not loading [07:43] We were trying to work with Wikipedia to link to us instead but they're slow. [07:48] Hm? [07:50] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Archived_Pages contains all we know on Wikimedia side [07:51] http://blog.archive.org/2013/10/25/fixing-broken-links/ claimed IA was working with our awesome volunteer User:Legoktm but I never heard something specific from him [07:52] And https://git.wikimedia.org/blob/pywikibot%2Fcompat.git/HEAD/weblinkchecker.py is open for patches [08:09] Got an update: https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Archived_Pages&diff=1111855&oldid=1061892 [10:28] (And of course anyone can run a bot on their own) [17:38] WHAT FORSOOTH, PRITHEE TELL ME THE SECRET WORD [17:38] yahoosucks [17:45] hm [17:49] Aroooooo [17:49] I fixed a minor issue in my emulator, and now hundreds more Atari 800 programs work and are getting screenshots [19:22] anyone knows a good channel name for swipnet? [19:22] maybe #swiped ? [19:27] #swiped sounds good [19:32] ok [19:33] ---------- [19:33] ---------- [19:33] Download all the Swipnet websites. [19:33] Join #swiped [19:33] New warrior projects coming up! [19:59] Good Afternoon, [19:59] I am the managing editor of the Peninsula Press, a news site based out of Stanford. [19:59] We are getting ready to completely re-do our website but won't be carrying over the old content. However, we still have to be able to have our story authors access their stories that were published on our site from 2010-2014. That's why we were thinking about having all our old URLs redirect to the WayBack Machine's archive of the story. [19:59] But since not everything on our site is archived, is there a way to push archive the entire website (every story)? [19:59] I appreciate your advice and wanted to see if this is a feasible solution as we look at archival options. [19:59] Thank you, [19:59] Vignesh [20:04] \o/ they are learning [20:04] archivebot it? D: [20:05] it'd be nice if they can provide it in a nice way, but if not we can just grab it. [20:22] stupid question but how big is it? [20:23] midas: we don't know unless theres part of the email SketchCow didn't share... [20:23] is that the most exciting email you've received recently? [21:15] No idea. [21:15] That's the most e-mail. [21:15] No, the most exciting e-mails are getting flown to places to yell at nerds [21:15] Nerds! aahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh [21:15] Nerds, why u no see deletion? [21:23] most exciting e-mail just came in. OH GOD PROJECT IS ON FIRE HAPL DO WE HAVE BACKUPS [21:24] so ill be back or fired in about 2 hours, later. [21:27] good luck midas [21:36] "We're getting ready to redo our website but we won't be keeping our old content. However, we need to keep our old content." [21:37] Then perhaps that should be part of your plan to redo your website. [21:38] Perhaps you should challenge that initial incorrect decision to "not be keeping our old content" which is contrary to the need you stated immediately afterwards. [21:38] Or is that just me? [21:38] But yeah, archiving is good too. At least it's a start. [21:40] thats why i'm trying to archive reuters.com [21:40] and cbsnews.com and abcnews.com [21:40] they just may do a redesign and delete the old content [21:41] looks everyone did that around 2006 [21:45] It seems like they want all the benefits of having their old stuff out, but don't want to eat that cost themselves. But at least it would be accessible somewhere. [21:46] And a lot of the big broadcasting companies still have their old stuff, you just have to pay them exorbitant fees if you want to access it. [22:43] Are we doing any project involving artistserver? [22:43] or artistserver? [22:43] http://artistserver.com/ [22:44] They're shutting down end of the month. [23:51] Anyone want it?
