[11:16] i have two thoughts: 1) people might want to use svn2git to carve out portions of it into git repos, so either that would need to work or a similar tool needs to be available [11:16] 2) subversion is dying and tools to use subversion may not be available in the near future [11:17] is there some tool to create tarballs of every revision and keep some plaintext metadata around? Apparently it's still being developed even (last stable release was 9 days ago). And even if development ceases and it becomes unused, the code will still be there. In the worst case (code not usable on future computers anymore), that would allow to figure out the data format and write a replacement that transforms the data into whatever format [11:57] will be used in the future. [12:00] With that in mind, I think svnrdump is the best method to archive an SVN repository. It's basically just a dump of the network traffic that occurs when you check out one revision after the other. In a way, it's similar to WARC in that there are metadata blocks followed by the raw data, repeated for each revision and each file. At least that's my understanding of it.
