[02:06] DFJustin: Agreed - I will make sure when I go hardcore in that direction, imaging will happen [02:07] To be frank, I don't see the value with these shareware ones I'm ripping [02:07] But let me see what happens when I hit the PC/DOS disks again [09:44] I have good news. [09:49] https://archive.org/details/KaratekaIBMBeta19860303ID952 [15:20] excellent [15:34] enjoy some hater tears https://twitter.com/MNeko/status/770712085072220161 [16:29] DFJustin: someone should tell him that M+GUI is not MAME :p [17:34] ----- [17:34] I want to start by saying thank you for making it possible to re-live my childhood from viewing old websites to playing my favorite retro games. That said I hate the MAME controls so much! Most games use ctrl, alt and arrows. When you press ctrl+alt+arrow in windows the screen freezes and rotates. [17:34] Once you rotate back the game area because tiny. No one can play a game like this, it just makes people angry. Its really nice to see these old games but its like a sick joke because I can't play most of them without hitting the 3 buttons at once (sometimes well in to the game). [17:34] If given access I would personally update the config files and game descriptions to use non-hotkeys and tell users how the buttons are defined. I hate poorly implemented technology, this is frustrating enough to make me want to avoid the entire archive.org site on principle. Please, fix this so I can continue enjoying and recommending archive.org to others. [17:34] ---- [17:34] This is my favorite line of all time. [17:35] he's not entirely incorrect, that bites me sometimes too, heh [17:35] Yes [17:36] So he would kindly like our help, or he will boycott the entire site [17:36] haha yeah, that's a great attitude [17:36] I can reply with some helpful tips to install linux from source if you'd like [17:37] definitely can't rotate a screen with just a hotkey in x11 [17:48] sure you can. I think ubuntu's unity has that enabled by default, it's done with xrandr [17:51] I think it's a third-party driver that does that and not stock windows [17:59] mostly laptops yeah, but I think win8 or win10 may have added it natively [18:09] never encountered it with stock win8 [18:10] apparently it's utilities that come with intel graphics or toshiba laptops [18:12] ah, that's probably it, intel graphics [18:13] one of my coworkers at my last job discovered that functionality and for a couple months he'd do it to anyone who left their system unlocked (might even work when locked, not sure) [18:13] caused a lot of confusion at first but soon everyone knew how to handle it, heh [18:16] I did that once and then turned the monitor itself upside down so it looked normal at first [19:08] Just did an entire podcast that raved about how great MAME is [19:08] I'll let you know when they make it available, who knows when [22:37] DFJustin: I've begun creating the 0.177 installs. [22:37] That said, I'm interested in how the Floppy sound emulation works. [23:35] apple2gs appears to be failing. [23:35] Might we have the most up to date ROMs somewhere? [23:35] yeah the roms have been reshuffled for that, should be on the usual places [23:44] Updating.
