JohnTalenOh, I have an idea, let's consider a chip an emulation and just cut and paste duplicate code from the c64. argh. I have to go through each function with a fine toothed comb because this vsid needs to be ported too. [08:16]
db48x`:) [08:16]
JohnTalenI have to think of a way to circumvent these duplicates in the next version with more automation.
I have a feeling that's not going to happen.
[08:17]
db48x`: Is it normal to create an untied separate fork while not providing the latest diffs to make the project actually work?
i find you just cannot remove empty functions. There are still dependencies in the code.
[08:24]
db48x`I'm not sure what you mean by 'untied' [08:27]
JohnTalendb48x`: a github entry without a head.
hm.
[08:28]
db48x`what's a "github entry"? do you mean a commit?
a branch?
a github repository?
[08:28]
JohnTalenhow can I say this. A github project based on another one but one that doesn't contain all the diff patch files. [08:29]
db48x`ok, so a repository
in particular, a repository which was forked from another repository
[08:29]
JohnTalenis it legal for me to post my finished tree to github in spite of the vice team doing the real work? [08:30]
db48x`but all repositories have heads [08:30]
JohnTalendb48x`: yes, sorry.
this repo is just a few diff files with vagure rederences to the exact version of vice.
references that is.
[08:30]
db48x`weird
usually instead of adding diffs to a repository as files, you would apply them and then commit them
[08:31]
JohnTalenok so it is weird. thank goodness! :) [08:31]
db48x`what's the url? [08:31]
JohnTalenthe project is vice.js.
ah ok.
yes, this is the reverse. and no where near the latest.
[08:31]
db48x`https://github.com/rjanicek/vice.js/tree/master/vice
that is super weird
[08:32]
JohnTalenah okay thanks. [08:34]
***db48x` is now known as db48x [08:34]
JohnTalenI had this same thing happen to me with a 2d cad projects i did for i-n-f-ra-gi-stics.
no diffs, just near latest release source code.
it was, like this one, a porting project.
from win16 borland to win32 vc++.
there must be some politics here.
i suppose i'll just generate a diff script for this version of vice.
i also have to port both x64 and x64sc.
I'm partially wondering if my c64 collection is bigger than archive.org. :)
