WhoWhatWhen
SketchCowDidn't dieeeee [02:29]
.... (idle for 19mn)
baiSketchCow: yeah damn, glad you're ok [02:48]
SketchCowWhat's our opinion on trying to run the MAME Mac stuff?
Honestly, I think we need that build machine work done, boring as it is.
So we can get things humming again.
[02:54]
baiI don't have much of an opinion when it comes to the mac stuff, you guys know more about the underlying problems there. I guess the mame one is nice because it supports color, but it's a bit slower for some things because it's more technically correct? [02:56]
SketchCowThat was my thought. Is it fast enough? [02:56]
baiwas it specifically the floppy performance which was slow
?
[02:56]
SketchCowNo, that's Apple II/Woz Interface
My thought is just the most complicated machines are slower. I just don't think we've ever tried.
[02:57]
baiworth a shot, but yeah, I'm not sure where the build system left off, I think I was out in the wilderness when db48x got that started [02:59]
................ (idle for 1h19mn)
DFJustinlast time I tried mame mac in js it just straight up crashes if you pass it a hard drive image
so that's the biggest obstacle

SketchCowSomebody made a VERY fast, VERY quick Hypercard in Javascript thing [16:37]
Called Hyqercard. [16:46]
bailooks very japanese, from the search results
is there a page which has some info in english?
[16:51]
DFJustinaccording to http://hyqercard.hateblo.jp/entry/2017/06/20/103016 it's a clone that can make hypercard-like stacks but can't actually interpret hypercard files [16:57]
.......... (idle for 48mn)
zinoI have a friend that wrote a hypercard interpreter in C since he had to port Myst to AmigaOS in a hurry. (Unhelpful here, but fun tidbit) [17:45]

SketchCowhttps://archive.org/details/mission-critical-dos
Any thoughts on why this explodes
I wonder if it's because the files are 1gb
[18:37]
baiGET https://ia801509.us.archive.org/cors_get.php?path=%2F0%2Fitems%2Fmission-critical-dos%2FMission%2520Critical.zip 417 (Expectation Failed)
that's a new one for me
[18:37]
SketchCowFound it.
(Space in Filename)
[18:38]
baiah hah, For example, the server may reject a request if its Content-Length is too large.
oh ok
[18:38]
SketchCowI hate this level of problem as much as everyone else. [18:39]
Ha ha, 1gb
What hath god wrought
[18:44]
baihey, it's mission critical, it must all be super important
I don't know if I remember this game
looks like it's from the fmv game phase we went through back then
[18:44]
SketchCowI'm screenshotting it now.
Let's see if that works.
[19:00]
I got it to work! [19:10]
baithe fact that you can mount a 1gb file in your browser in js is a bit shocking :D
and then, you know, run an entire emulated dos machine on top of that
none of this should have been possible, we're using the internet at a level that should not be allowed
[19:13]
SketchCowWe are obviously part of the problem.
Gamergate, pop-up ads, malware, and Emulation
[19:15]
