SketchCowYeah
Well, he has all the tools and he got it to compile, so now he can do the comparing work, etc.
I can't think of the last time someone went from "what's all this" to a webpage with a working compile in 5 hours
[23:22]
...... (idle for 28mn)
baiyeah, I mean at least half of it for new users is just getting a working MAME build environment going
for him it's just "run it with a couple different options" :D
[23:51]
fzzzyso if i want to try compiling it to asm.js i should get a regular mame build going first? [23:53]
baiyup
you'll need a full native build anyway in order to determine which drivers to compile when doing per-system asmjs builds
a full build of all systems to asmjs still ends up being quite large, so we're still splitting things out
[23:53]
fzzzyI'd like to try adding color to the mac emulation [23:54]
baioh, the mac emulation is currently handled by a separate emulator, pce.js. MAME does have mac support, and I think their version does have color, too - I forget the exact reasons for why the archive went with pce.js over mame for the osx stuff, but it was likely speed and/or "mame wasn't ready yet but then they fixed some stuff and now maybe it is"
macos, not osx :D
[23:56]
fzzzyhmm, ok. i'd be interested in getting pce.js running too. also, i'd love to try compiling mini vmac to asm.js or wasm since it is my favorite mac emulator, but that's probably a stretch [23:58]
SketchCowSo.
1. You don't want to add color to PCE.js
2. We have Mac emulation with color in MAME
3. We aren't using it just like we aren't using a pile of platforms because of The Issue
4. We have someone working on The Issue
[23:58]
fzzzyI'll get mame building a normal binary first
heh, what's The Issue?
[23:59]
