mlsHCross2: It seems Smiley has ran into an issue, once Warrior instances run into this problem nothing gets done and if by any luck an item gets completed, it might as well be requeued since youtube-dl can't be executed (missing symlink) [12:28]
HCross2: This only seems to be an issue with Warrior v2 [12:34]
HCross2So it's an issue with the symlink? [12:34]
mlsNot just that, eversince Warrior v3 beta got introduced things got moved around, a project exists in two places now and the run-warrior2 that's supposed to glue everything together is only monitoring in one place
That seems to be the main issue by the looks of it
On v2 projects exist in /home/warrior/projects under their known project name
On v3 beta projects exist in /data/data/projects under their known name with a short commit hash appended to it
Now when a fresh Warrior v2 starts up everything gets executed without any issues, though the project, in this case, gets cloned into /data/data/projects/newsgrabber-3ef5d42
The script warrior-install.sh has been previously executed, checking if youtube-dl exists, which it does but only in /home/warrior/projects/newsgrabber
Please note I'm referring to warrior-install.sh which comes from the repository NewsGrabber-Warrior, not warrior-code2
So seesaw.warrior, which is glueing everything together, runs the pipeline from /data/data/projects/newsgrabber-3ef5d42
And I suspect the problem lies in that part, where seesaw.warrior expects projects to reside in /home/warrior/projects while the project is being ran elsewhere
I haven't tried to come up with a proper solution, as English is not my native language and have been struggling with putting this into something understandable
Perhaps its best to split up the warrior-code for v3 beta into its own repository and prevent an even bigger mess
[12:36]
SmileyHCross2: it's not just newsgrabber that doesn't work
the only projects that do work are flickr, yahoo and tinyurl
everything else is broken
[13:08]

Soooooooo after more digging
the warriors seem totally busted
like... both v2 and v3 can't actually run newsgrabber

wtf is with the extra u2019?
and u2018
I can't tell if this is just a issue in the WarriorUI, or it's actually trying to do a DNS lookup on that whole string, which is failing

Smileyso... anyone around to try and fix this? ;/ [19:36]
............ (idle for 57mn)
IglooI'm aware of it Smiley, I need to look at our options with it [20:33]
Smileyok [20:33]
IglooI'm sorry we've got about 3 coders over all the projects
Plus my normal job to deal with
[20:33]
SmileyI'm willing to help where I can, I know a lil bit of code, but a lil' bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing [20:34]
IglooWhere I code in python. All. Damn. Day at the minute [20:34]
SmileyPart of my problem is knowing how to debug :(<
as the logs.... aren't helpful in this regard
[20:34]
IglooNo, They're not. It's also a case of knowing where the problem originates [20:34]
Smileynod [20:34]
Igloo18:04 <@JAA> \u2018 and \u2019 are Unicode quotes, ‘ and ’.
That'll be a bug in the discover I think
[20:37]
mlsMight explain why it's seen in near every project [20:37]
IglooYes, But I don't think it's important, I've not looked at it in detail though
I need to re-setup my test environment
So I can feed stuff to it in a controlled manner
[20:38]
mlsAye, I've seen it for so long I've learned to ignore it most of the time [20:39]
SmileyIgloo: well, every single dns lookup, with the ucode in it, fails
so I think it maybe important ;D
that would explain why tinyurl works too, as it discovers in a totally different way
[20:39]
IglooOh, I've not seen that
Weird, OK, good to know
[20:39]
SmileyItem newsbuddy:warrior_1273_1516543213.71: Step 4 of 9 ERROR Fetching \u2018https://cdnimg.rg.ru/res/images/sprite_main.png\u2019 encountered an error: DNS resolve timed out.
ok that one looks bad because .ru, but everything was doing it
tho now newsgrabber just stopped working entirely in thi warrior
[20:40]
IglooIt's going to be errant ` being put in the JSON from the disco [20:40]
Smileyoh good, v3 of the warrior can install sshd xD [20:49]
jrwrYep [20:55]
JAA20:37:33 <@Igloo> That'll be a bug in the discover I think -- Does discovery use wpull as well? Those characters most certainly come from wpull's logging output. [21:06]
Smileyroot@92087c7451ac:/# which python2
/usr/bin/python2
[21:12]
mlsSo that should work on v3
There's no python2 on v2
[21:12]
SmileyAh lul [21:13]
mlsSo I made a symlink, running it now to see if it borks or not

[21:13]
IglooJAA: Yes I believe it does, Been a while since i've looked though
mls seeing as you've identified that as being an issue want to make a github update?
Or i can if you wish :P
[21:19]
mlsYes. [21:20]
IglooIgloo prods Kaz [21:20]
Smileywhy u no define PYTHON=$(which python)

also, give github powars
[21:20]

Smileyhmmm if /etc/issue | grep debian { return 2 } else {return 3} XD [21:21]
Kazlots of chat, what'd I miss? [21:21]
SmileyV2 warriors can't find python, everything is fucked. [21:21]
Kazhuh [21:21]
mlsKaz python2 in pipeline.py line 163, there is no python2 [21:21]
Kazdidn't we fix that? [21:22]
mlsNot for v2 warriors [21:22]
Kazhang on
https://s.kurt.gg/242phdNF.png
oh i see what you mean mls
[21:22]
mlsNow try python2 -V
=P
Smiley: Are you still having issues with v3 though?>
[21:24]
IglooStupid python. [21:25]

go shout at anonymoos
I think
have any of you changed it to just python and confirmed it works?
on both warrior versions
[21:25]
mlsI've added a symlink on v2, /usr/bin/python2 -> /usr/bin/python2.6 [21:26]
Smileymls: errr yeah xD [21:28]
Kaz./usr/bin/python is 2.6.6 on warrior2 right?
I don't have warrior3 on hand to test with
but I would imagine that's where this confusion has come from
[21:28]
SmileyI have both, but mls has 2 running atm [21:28]
mlsKaz: If not upgraded, yes (warrior software upgrade to 3.5) [21:28]
IglooTest both before we commit to it, I think v3 will be fine
as it has both python 2 and 3
(WHY!?)
[21:28]
Kazsomeone confirm /usr/bin/python -V on warrior3 please [21:29]
mlsGoing to test it as soon as my job's done [21:29]
Kazcc Smiley ^ [21:30]
Smileywhat u want me to do? [21:30]
Kaz./usr/bin/python -V [21:30]
Smileyroot@92087c7451ac:/# usr/bin/python -V
Python 2.7.12
[21:30]
mlsUgh [21:30]
Kaz2.7 vs 2.6 is probably okay [21:30]
mls2.6 is already deprecated
Spam is unreal on v2
[21:30]
Kaz20180130.01 is now minimum in tracker [21:32]
mls/usr/bin/python2 symlink already exists on v3 [21:32]
Kazyeah, that's why anonymoos put it in I guess
medowar, BnAboyZ, anonymoos , Igloo, Aoede update script please
[21:32]

luls
[21:33]
KazI think we need sane timeouts for stuff like that, lots of people getting caught on streams [21:35]
mlsbtw youtube-dl isn't available as it's not in the place the pipeline is ran from [21:35]
Aoededone [21:35]
Kazmls: a symlink is created for youtube-dl
or at least, is on v2
[21:35]
IglooI did fix youtube-dl
I'm sure I did..
[21:35]
Kazscript looks to be all working on v2, dedupe running correctly now [21:36]
mlsKaz: in ~warrior/projects/newsgrabber yes, not where the pipeline is actually ran from (/data/data/projects/newsgrabber-commit_version) [21:36]
Kazyeah, guess we need another symlink for v3 [21:36]
mlsOh Igloo too ^ [21:36]
IglooTracker rate limiting is active. We don't want to overload the site we're archiving, so we've limited the number of downloads per minute. Retrying after 60 seconds... [21:37]
Smileylol
can't clear claims either, server is fooked ;D
[21:38]
Kazyeah, paused to requeue all jobs [21:38]
IglooOh crapsticks [21:38]
SmileyI used to know how to fix it, but it's been a long time since i was on there ;D [21:38]
Kazwe're back at 0 claims [21:38]
IglooIt should symlink to the local directory (assuming it was my "fix") mls [21:38]
Kazi just clocked a youtube-dl error on warrior2, will try to grab the next one that comes up [21:39]
mlsIgloo: seesaw.warrior executes warrior-install.sh from the local directory, right? [21:42]
IglooYes, Think so, I did test this (promise!) [21:43]
Kazoh, hang on
both warrios use /data/data/projects/newsgrabber-commit
[21:44]
mlsMhmm
So running warrior-install.sh from /home/warrior/projects/newsgrabber is useless
[21:44]
KazI was 99% sure warrior2 still used home/warrior [21:45]
mlsI looked around, everything is cloned twice
in ~warrior and /data/data/projects
Way more Warriors on the tracker now =]
[21:45]
Kazright, who feels like fixing youtube-dl, because I certainly don't [21:48]
mlsHuehue [21:48]
Smileyalso what is archiveteams choice atm? [21:49]
Kaznewsgrabber [21:49]
mlsAccording to the wiki urlteam2 [21:49]
Smileyhmmm, I've chosen newsgrabber but urlteam2 still running [21:50]
Kazhttps://s.kurt.gg/243PJoz4.png mls [21:50]

[21:56]

simple fix is to move warrior-install.sh L25-L31 to pipeline.py
[21:57]
mlsIf wpull uses PATH to execute youtube-dl you're good to go too [21:58]
Kazby the looks of it, it doesn't
youtube-dl is happily sitting in /usr/bin/
[21:58]
mlsYou're right, that's how I made it work on Arch

[22:22]
Aoede(os.getcwd(), '/youtube-dl') returns a tuple? no clue [22:24]
IglooNaw it's the os.getcwd
What are you trying to do? Create the symlink in the current directory?
[22:25]
Smileyos.symlink('/usr/bin/youtube-dl', (os.getcwd(), './youtube-dl'))
surely
oh wait no
[22:25]
JAAos.path.join? [22:26]

[22:27]
Kazos.symlink('/usr/bin/youtube-dl', os.getcwd() + '/youtube-dl') was correct
I'm just dumb, ty guys
[22:27]
SmileyAh, almost
i just had extra bracket, i let myself off this time!
[22:27]
JAAI prefer os.path.join, but yeah, that'll work as well. [22:27]

But my eyes are sore.

i give up?
[22:29]
mlsKaz: On v3 youtube-dl sits in /usr/local/bin
Minor detail
[22:29]

Iglooelse: [22:30]
mlsidd
Now I'm going to get coffee.
[22:30]

[22:30]
IglooI've been playing grafana and doing some blogging for the first time in ages, and playing python [22:30]
JAAThe real question here is, why is PATH broken? [22:31]
Iglooafter writing a FUCKING CISCO API integration toolset all day [22:31]
JAAIt should just find youtube-dl through that. [22:31]
IglooJAA: Because. [22:31]
Smileyinfact fuck it
fix $PATH
[22:31]
IglooIt's always been broken. [22:31]
JAAYeah, I know. [22:31]
Smileyadd /usr/local/bin [22:31]
KazI don't think wpull is looking in $PATH [22:31]
JAASmiley: There's some issue with PATH not being forwarded correctly to the code that calls youtube-dl or something.
Kaz: It should, unless you specify --youtube-dl-exe or whatever the option's called.
[22:31]
Smileydiff user? [22:32]
mlswpull is just executing youtube-dl where cwd is [22:32]
Smileydoes it call ./youtube-dl instead of youtube-dl ?
XD
[22:32]
IglooKaz: is it up to date? I'll have a look tomorrow (maybe) [22:32]
mlsSmiley: Just youtube-dl, nothing more, nothing less :D [22:32]
Kazwhy the fuck did we not know --youtube-dl-exe existed? [22:32]
SmileyxD [22:32]
Igloowpull_args.append('--youtube-dl') [22:32]
Kazcheck on startup if /usr/bin/youtube-dl or /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl exists, add --youtube-dl-exe and point it to whichever we've got [22:33]
JAAYou could run find_executable to discover youtube-dl similarly to the WPULL_EXE check in pipeline.py. [22:34]
Smileydoes which youtube-dl work? [22:34]
mlsSmiley: in v3, yes [22:34]
Kazin v2 as root, yes [22:34]
Smileyso warrior (user) path is broken on v2
sorted.
[22:34]
mlsNot sure if that works OOB in python, my python is noob at best [22:35]
Kazactually, it works under warrior user in v2 too
there, we've got a solution, ish.
I'm not touching anything because trying to make this work through github's webui and vmware console is a huge pita
[22:35]
........... (idle for 54mn)
mlsI'm running newsgrabber on v3 beta, manually started run-warrior after I've installed seesaw through pip (python2)
So yea, python3 isn't working for me on Warrior v3 beta, manual run-warrior defaults to python2 which works like expected
as expected*
Igloo: Kaz: HCross2 ^
[23:30]
KazYeah, we need python 2 for this project
I can't remember if it's warcio or wpull it something that requires it, but it's something
[23:35]
mlshttps://github.com/ArchiveTeam/warrior-code2/blob/3c1359a2d7b6677a7ea6cffe450ae420ac945096/warrior-runner.sh#L5 uses python3 [23:38]
