............ (idle for 56mn)
running the script by itself, get an error about warcio
echos "hi" too, not sure what's going on
using archiveteam/newsgrabber-warrior

Smileyerrr
did u guys actually download and test a v2 warrior?
as mine is still breoken D:
Kaz: need some way of not showing projects that aren't supported
[19:34]
Kazuh
I'm pretty sure mine is working, one sec
[19:35]
Smileybecause.... if you click it, you kill that warrior instance without any way of fixing it that I can find
try a fresh one ? :/
because mine definately isn't.
Does it still reboot every 24 hr?
These newsgrabber grabs been running 5 hrs each
basically they both been running since it rebooted.
[19:35]
Kazuh, yeah I'm seeing same as you actually
warrior2 doesn't have the python2 symlink
gah
[19:36]
Smileythank god
I been asking about that since like 2 weeks ago but no one could confirm it XD
i was starting to think my vbox was seriously messed up
[19:40]
JAAEw [19:40]
SmileyHow do you login to a v2 warrior btw, I'm sure previously I setup ssh but now I can't seem to get a console to do so [19:41]
JAAWhat's warrior2 based on again? [19:41]
Kazdebian 6 [19:42]
Smileyactually i'm dumb
why can't i start sshd, weird
[19:42]
Kazpython 2.6.6
I'm just using vmware console to jump in, root/archiveteam
[19:42]
SmileyYeah, doing that atm
but... would rather ssh so I can copy/paste and such
failed to fetch http://http.debian.net....
all the sources are 404'ing :/
[19:43]
JAADamn, warrior2 is old. Can we nuke it please? [19:46]
Smileyyeah I was about to suggest if someone can point me to how it's 'built' I'll upgrade all the software etc.
If the ONLY thing it runs is newsgrabber, I suggest we have a seperate tracker for it too
just with newsgrabber on it?
Or we start hiding projects from the old warrior :/
because right now I think it just adds confusing
[19:46]
JAASmiley: https://archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Dev/Source_Code
But really, we need something that can easily be kept updated.
So we might need a different concept.
jrwr built a VM with the Docker warrior inside it, but I'm not sure how updates work there.
[19:57]
Smileyweell i don't think it's _that_ important to update it
but the existing one is kinda rusty now
[20:03]
........ (idle for 35mn)
jrwrIt updates every time the VM starts
also chfoo started working on the VM as well
its the warrior3 ova
[20:38]
JAAjrwr: Only the Docker container or also the VM itself? [20:42]
Smileyit only updates the scripts
not the actual vm
[20:43]
jrwrYa only the docker container
its a super small alpine VM under it, and it just calls up docker and downloads the docker version of the warriorp
[20:47]
JAAYeah, makes sense.
And if the Docker image is rebuilt frequently enough, there shouldn't be any real attack surface anyway.
[20:54]
.... (idle for 18mn)
jrwrYa, Since the alpine image is modern enough to be supported for the next 10 years
and we can update under it without changing how dockers support is done
[21:12]
........ (idle for 39mn)
Smileyso where is this link missing from Kaz ? [21:51]
As I thought this was fixed like 2 weeks ago [21:56]
JAASmiley: This is about python2, not youtube-dl. [21:56]
Smiley:/
ooooooo
yes, drat
[21:56]
JAAWe explicitly call python2 instead of just python now because that broke on systems which use Python 3 by default. [21:56]
Smileythat was youtube-dl, but.... lol [21:57]
JAABut apparently warrior2 doesn't have /usr/bin/python2 -> symlink.
-> python*
[21:57]
Smileyok [21:57]
JAANo idea when that was added.
I'm surprised Debian Squeeze doesn't have it, honestly.
I think Python 3 already existed at that time.
[21:57]
Smileyit has /usr/bin/python2.6
that's why
[21:58]
JAAHuh, the major version symlink was only added later? [21:58]
Smileyhmmm actually yeah odd
did they nuke it, because it interefered with the python3 stuff ?D:
gentoo has eselect <3
[21:58]
JAAYup, /usr/bin/python2 was only added in Wheezy: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=696502 [21:59]
Smileylol
so can we change our linsk to 'python2' to go to 'python2.6' instead?
because that'll work _anywhere_ ?
[22:00]
JAAThat'll break on systems which only have Python 2.7 but no 2.6. [22:00]
Smileyuargh
`which python2` xD
still won't work grrr
[22:00]
***octothorp has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) [22:01]
SmileyRetrying WgetDownload for Item newsbuddy:warrior_286_1516472866.91 after 30 seconds...
that's better
[22:02]
JAAChecking the output of python -V and attempting python2 if that isn't 2.x might work, but... [22:02]
Kazi guess best thing to do for now is to go back to python (rather than python2) and work out a proper solution
it'll get warrior going again at leas
t
[22:04]
JAAYeah, I guess so.
Maybe we can use seesaw's find_executable for this.
[22:04]
Kazwe could, not quite sure how it works [22:05]
JAAI'll look into it tomorrow. [22:05]
Kazbut I guess all we've got to do is check either /usr/bin/python or /usr/bin/python2 [22:06]
JAAYeah [22:06]

Kazyeah it does, was wondering if github defaulted to sending w/o being in channel though [22:23]
