19:43 🔗 qwebirc47 Hi guys, a silly question. Is it possible to run more than one Archive warrior in a laptop/PC? Like to have multiple ones going on at the same time.
19:44 🔗 aaaaaaaaa do you use vmware or virtualbox?
19:45 🔗 qwebirc47 yes
19:45 🔗 qwebirc47 that's the one!
19:46 🔗 midas qwebirc47: if you run it command line (aka, not running the warrior) you can run as much as you want
19:46 🔗 qwebirc47 No I am running them with the UI
19:47 🔗 aaaaaaaaa you can run multiple warriors on one machine, you just have to change the port forwarding in virtualbox
19:47 🔗 qwebirc47 So I guess that limits me to one per machine right?
19:48 🔗 qwebirc47 oh ok! Do you guys have anything written on how I can do that? It would help speed up the process. I have a laptop running 24/7 with one Warrior only so if I can squeeze more out of it would be great!
19:48 🔗 chfoo http://archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Warrior#Can_I_run_multiple_virtual_machines_at_the_same_time.3F
19:49 🔗 qwebirc47 Cheers guys! Didn't notice that!
19:49 🔗 aaaaaaaaa heh, was just in the process of writing that out
19:51 🔗 qwebirc47 let me try and set this up. If I run into any probs I'll come back
20:10 🔗 qwebirc47 So I followed all the steps from the link above. I am now at the Port Forwarding Rules window. Any ideas from here an on? I don't wanna screw anything!
20:10 🔗 qwebirc47 Do I need to change the host port or the guest port?
20:15 🔗 aaaaaaaaa let me look real quick
20:15 🔗 aaaaaaaaa its the host port
20:16 🔗 qwebirc47 actually I managed to set up the forwarding rules as follows: TCP | 127.0.0.1 | 8123 | | 8001. and then visited http://localhost:8123/ and mapped port 8123 in my browser to port 8001 but 8001 is now not working
20:17 🔗 aaaaaaaaa that is the point. Warriors can't share the same port.
20:18 🔗 aaaaaaaaa So the first one keeps 8001 the second gets a different one, the third yet another, etc
20:19 🔗 qwebirc47 I see, so I need to create a new port for each warrior. Do I need to download a new instance of the warrior for each port?
20:20 🔗 aaaaaaaaa you can import the same ova file again and again.
20:23 🔗 qwebirc47 OK it's a little bit more complicated than I thought.
20:24 🔗 qwebirc47 I'll leave it for now. If you guys get a chance please update that section with a bit more details. It is useful for people who want to dedicate more resources
20:25 🔗 yipdw usually for people who want to contribute a lot, we ask that they run scripts directly and stay available in here
20:26 🔗 yipdw or in the project channels
20:26 🔗 qwebirc47 I would't mind running script directly. I just don't know much about how to run scripts
20:26 🔗 qwebirc47 !
20:26 🔗 yipdw the availability being the really important part
20:27 🔗 qwebirc47 I am more than happy to contribute my time though. If there is anything else you need help with let me know.
20:28 🔗 yipdw running projects outside of the Warrior environment is part of each project's readme, e.g. https://github.com/ArchiveTeam/lastfm-grab in "Running without a Warrior"
20:29 🔗 yipdw we write all software for UNIX-ish machines and strongly recommend the same for people who want to run that software outside the Warrior
20:35 🔗 qwebirc47 I am using an MAcBook Air so I am guessing I am covered with the UNIX side of things. I will switch to Ubuntu some day... I hope soon : )
