[02:27] ok [02:28] now i'm getting some files that are giving 400 bad request error when trying to upload them [02:28] how do i fix that [02:34] i may have figured out why [03:28] i'm finding lost silcon spin episodes [03:28] the dial up edition [04:25] so i got about 13gb of lost techtv clips [04:25] :-D [06:02] omf_: np [07:52] Dropping this here because I've been indoctrinating you with my crazy for 3 years [07:52] Guy digitized some magazines. I put them up. I go "You know, a lot of these are clipped/cropped" [07:52] Okay. I'll have a friend compile me a list of things that I need to fix. [07:52] I'll admit, I didn't spend a lot of time on it. The problem is if you [07:53] do it real good, some jag-bag puts on on CD and tries to sell it. So I [07:53] did a mediocre job in the interest of that, time and sanity. [07:53] http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/the-fuck-is-this-the-fuck-is-that.jpg [08:06] SketchCow: i'm finding tons of episodes of zdnet news; internet tonight; call for help; and screen savers episodes [08:07] also slicon spin [08:14] https://twitter.com/textfiles/status/317549707826196480 [08:20] its good thing i'm doing this g4 back instead of you SketchCow [08:20] cause its a pain in the ass to do [08:21] even with a good chuck of it xml data its not all there [08:24] SketchCow: i'm up to episode 73 of tekzilla now [08:26] Excellent. [08:33] http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3tktsa/ [08:34] hahah [09:31] Are there any collections of screen shots of the most visited websites [09:32] The wayback machine does handle web applications that well so it is hard to do research on previous iterations of technology. [10:23] anyone else having weird things happening to their OVH servers? [10:35] so some of the full episodes are crap [10:35] i mean like black or gray screen for about the full hour [10:49] also know some of these are repeats [10:50] cause there is one of with a bit of internet tonight at the begining [10:51] then there is one where there is black replacing it [10:51] this is video25571 and video25567 [11:02] omf_: this is probably the site you want: http://www.screenshots.com/ [11:07] so just found another episode of zdnet news [11:08] i think i'm "#winning" [19:08] dashcloud, I tried that site. It gives me the same thing that wayback does [20:14] I did a little outside the box thinking and was able to find screenshots using someone's tutorial video on youtube [20:24] Since so much stuff just stays alive on youtube if it does not belong to hollywoord. [20:36] omf_: Archive.org now takes a snapshot of the full front page of any domain it visits. [20:36] Using contemporary rendering technology, to ensure there's a record/"photograph" of the current situation. [20:53] Yeah the front page, not using the application which shows how the interface works. I needed shots of the application in action so I could show how the UX has evolved. I should have been more clear up front that I need action shots just just homepage views [20:54] The more I look into this the more I find there really is no tracking of these kinds of changes out in the world [20:54] The key distinction here is web application versus web site. [21:08] Yeah, no, there's no tracking of that. [21:24] SketchCow: i have uploaded over 21k video to g4video-web [21:32] Excellent. [21:38] just found another daily nut episode [21:38] godane, How many gigabytes are all those videos? [21:39] over 1TB [21:40] you guys are luckly to get this stuff [21:40] cause alot of it is hard to find [21:48] so we may get luckly with getting all the daily nut podcast episodes [22:36] I hate being broke. I was going to submit a cfp to defcon but cannot afford to get out there. [22:38] Actually I had to skip 6 cfps so far this year because I could not afford the travel. It kinda pisses me off that this is the price of business to get information out there [22:38] I can understand why some of the best talks and speakers never bother to put things out there [23:04] Where do you live? [23:05] No where crazy, just plain old ohio [23:05] So do you not apply to speak at Notacon? [23:05] I never thought notacon was an audience that would get the things I work on [23:06] Like I gave a freebase talk at a big linux event and it sailed over most of the audience anyway [23:06] Huh. [23:06] Wow, your talks are so amazing, so inherently complicated and fantastic that the human race is just not ready for them. [23:06] no [23:06] Maybe publish online, then? Blog entries, one after another? [23:06] I just think they are too niche [23:07] I mean, talks are among the most inefficent ways to publish ideas anyway. [23:07] Yeah but it feels like you are paying out by going to these events [23:08] I didn't bother for years and it didn't get me anywhere, now it helps find jobs [23:09] You're a very cranky person. [23:09] I mean, I like cranky people, obviously, since I am one and I encourage cranky behavior. [23:09] I have been in college debt too long [23:09] But the point of speaking at, say, Notacon, or anywhere else, is not for the 30-180 meat bags in the room. [23:10] It's to get a recording of your presentation out there, it's to get comfortable with your ideas (speaking them out loud gets them out of your head, realizing what works and what doesn't as you say it) [23:10] There's a whole range of benefits. And so Notacon is right nearby, has been around for 10 years, is run efficiently, and I bet you could get a room with someone as cot on a floor, or a sleeping bag. [23:11] And since you're a speaker, the fee is free. [23:11] Anyway, enough free life advice, that's all. [23:11] I agrere. Most of the events I have done so far never have done video recordings and most of the audio is spotty at best. It really pisses me off since other events do way better and provide longer term value [23:11] You are just so cranky. [23:12] Most people just say I am too outspoken. I enjoy the bluntness, thank you. [23:14] Oh, sure. [23:14] But I get to bluntly say you are a cranky old man, too. [23:15] Yeah, I'll own that. [23:16] though that doesn't give you a monopoly on wearing suspenders in irc [23:18] I thought everyone on irc was always pants free [23:18] someone lied to me! [23:18] http://imgur.com/gallery/ykxK5Bi brilliant marketing [23:23] who says you need pants to wear grumpy old man suspenders? [23:24] damn kids these days, making the government force me to wear pants
