[02:04] what is the preferred python debugger? Is it pydb? [03:04] chfoo, you around? [03:32] omf_: i'm here now [03:32] sweet [03:33] So I am not very familiar with python packages. I cloned the repo and did python3 setup.py build, python3 setup.py install [03:33] and I was looking through the output [03:34] is warcat a library or a script [03:37] it's both. the __main__.py gets executed as a script if you attempt to run library as a script [03:38] but that doesn't get added to the PATH does it? [03:39] okay I think I get it [03:39] when I fire up python it brings in the paths [03:39] yeah, it should be in the path [03:48] I like how you used decorators [03:50] yeah it is not working [03:52] what's wrong? [03:59] I got 2 versions of python installed and fucking pip is for 2.7 not 3.2 [04:00] just gotta install python3-pip [04:02] fuck python 2.7 support [04:08] chfoo, here is what I am getting now, I installed isodate already http://paste.archivingyoursh.it/gayavebaxa.rb [04:13] omf_: hmm, i'm using an undocumented argument. i should be able to fix it quickly [04:18] omf_: i pushed a fix. it should be ok now. [04:19] it works now [04:19] I am building up a collection of warcs to use for testing these different apps [04:19] as well as cdx files [04:20] Shit I am going to be firing up heritrix to make some warcs for testing [04:26] http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Explosion-Rocks-Fertilizer-Plant-During-Fire-203508011.html [04:27] [00:05:54] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROrpKx3aIjA&feature=youtu.be -> IA [04:29] balrog, you going to upload it? [04:30] probably not, can't really from here [04:30] I already downloaded a copy of the video [04:30] I don't actually watch anything online. I just take the link and feed it to get-flash-video and watch the file later [04:31] It is bandwidth efficient. (✿◠‿◠) [04:36] ヽ(´ー` )ノ [04:53] Home routers get hacked http://securityevaluators.com//content/case-studies/routers/soho_router_hacks.jsp [07:47] omf_: there? [08:18] http://www.speedtest.net/result/2653422714.png [08:18] whee [09:23] https://github.com/djsmiley2k/smileys-random-tools [09:23] I'm building up a random toolkit of scripts [09:28] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROrpKx3aIjA [09:28] booooooom [09:33] So many deleting users [09:37] http://www.archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Special:ActiveUsers&limit=500 [09:37] Just a couple letters left [09:37] Then the robots will add another line of spam :) [09:48] OK, cut down [09:48] Damn, like 22 people [09:54] Whew, OK and to bed [11:35] ffs [11:35] didn't get that job [11:35] now i feel really shitty [12:11] Smiley: Meh, there's plenty of other ones! Don't feel bad [12:12] yeah but i wanted this one :/ [12:12] it's ideal [14:23] so looks like i have saved over 3400 lost techtv videos [15:02] http://ridiculousfish.com/blog/posts/YahooChatRooms.html?display=1 [15:03] fucking wifi [15:04] started to act up again for no reason [15:06] i'm starting to think puting yagi antenna doesn't like sitting on the scanner [15:07] but thats just the theory right now [15:30] I uploaded the missing Retro Gamer CD and NOT the others, to I am sure DFJustin's delight and respect. [15:30] I hate to be That Guy but http://archive.org/details/cdrom-retrogamer-essential-emulators [15:30] the rips are in different formats so there's that [15:36] for cdrom, cue/bin is ideal... and for dvdrom iso is fine [15:36] http://archive.org/search.php?query=collection%3Acdbbsarchive&sort=-publicdate [15:36] It's OK to be That Guy. [15:36] :P [15:36] I made a good faith effort not to redo work. [15:37] Of course I'd rather upload 30-40 new CD-ROMs and find out a couple were there. [15:37] Over time if I find multiple versions, I may just combine them. [15:37] I still have a massive round of scanning to do [15:37] Like, scan CD-ROMs [15:39] so my wifi is sucking [15:39] can't upload right now [15:40] ok its starting to upload again [15:40] but this 330mb file just keeps on taking forever to get upload cause of my wifi acting up [15:41] maybe the router needs to be configured for a different channel with less interference? [15:43] it was find most of last night [15:43] i'm on channel 6 i think [15:47] SketchCow: also your upload script fills in the date but not the year field (the web edit interface does that automatically) so they don't show up on "Browse by year" [15:49] Yeah. [15:50] What I could use right now, more than anything else in the world, is a script for posting to a wiki. [15:50] I found one and found it had ancient dependencies and the kid kind of gave up. [15:51] But it was perfect. [15:51] I have the metadata mediawiki up and ready to go, and I can start writing all the needed scripts to pull stuff back and forth from it. [15:51] spammers apparently have one [15:51] And we can see about getting people to crazy collaborate on something simple, like a magazine. [15:52] You're right, I should ask them for it. [15:52] SketchCow: uh [15:52] you need a mediawiki automation script? [15:53] and if yes, how urgently? [15:53] One that works and isn't some nerd despairing clusterfuck [15:53] because I probably have the old script that I used for ED restoration on my desktop still [15:53] it should work [15:53] Urgently is relative. [15:53] could probably also just write one, depending on complexity [15:53] What language [15:53] hmm.. [15:53] I think this one is PHP [15:53] I can give you this guy's script [15:53] made for php-cli [15:56] Regarding the CD-ROMs. [15:57] I had written this in some form before, but my plan was always to write a "reconciliation script", something that would go in and just seriously clean the clock of all these CD-ROM images, make ISOs out of bin/cues, get the additional metadata right, add listing textfiles, and so on. [15:57] You'll find I tend to go after most-risk first in any task. [15:58] So I'm here ripping hundreds of CD-ROMs that I have, just going through the collection as fast as possible (I have 4 CD-ROM drives going when I rip) so that at the worst, absolute worst, we have the data. [15:58] I figure we can always do metadata, but having all these online is the first step. [15:58] This puts me at odds with many professionals, of course. [15:59] Holy crap, I realize now the spambots were creating 100+ accounts a DAY. [16:03] sounds good [16:05] I had a thought that it would be sweet to index all the browsable isos/zips and have a filename search interface like the username stuff we have for mobileme etc. [16:06] Agreed. [16:07] So, my hope and goal is that CS nerds and outsiders would do that. [16:07] I don't think the archive, in its current state, is really capable of properly maintaining such curations. [16:07] I'd like to give assistance and work with that, of course. [16:07] But I feel like the archive does much better as a dependable hard drive. [16:13] Also, going to start SCP uploading ISOs because they're small enough I cna do fire and forgets [16:14] It won't get all of them, obviously, but it'll allow me to keep pumping them in [16:21] Also, I mean, come on, another 30 documents from bitsavers! [16:21] Those people are insane. [16:21] It just..... keeps going. [16:22] is there a status update on fos? [16:25] The machine is back [16:25] One of the two drives has been [16:25] fixed [16:26] could we start pushing formspring to it again soon? (if someone hasnt already) [16:31] Are you getting your balls hit [16:34] Anyone know what the story is with this song? http://files.exotica.org.uk/modland/?file=pub/modules/Impulsetracker/Necros/hornet%20multimedia%20upgrade.it Release track for the Hornet Archive '97 CD, or smth? [16:47] So figuring the spam at the current rates we're seeing, probably less than 100 of those are actual accounts. [16:48] right... SketchCow: sorry if I take some time to respond, but I've just moved and I'm still unpacking and reassembling furniture and everything :P [16:48] anyway [16:48] Ha, take your TIME, buddy [16:48] if you send me list of specs as to what exactly you need to do with mediawiki, I can probably write a script or even a Python module to do it [16:49] should be fairly easy with requests [16:49] not sure when I'll have it done, but probably somewhere inbetween tonight and in a few days [16:49] :P [16:49] http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_Bulk_Page_Creator is what I was using [16:49] And I found it was a little broken with the things that have changed in the software. [16:51] alright, will have a look at writing something soon [17:17] SketchCow, id just like to not eat as much BW [17:18] or know that at some point here formspring is going to go back to fos [17:18] few days..or a week [17:24] Few days. [18:58] alright thanks much [19:56] http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2013/04/18/177727014/book-news-vast-digital-public-library-of-america-launches [20:05] Yeah [20:06] I'm not allowed to publically speculate how poorly it'll fail [20:11] IA is one of the partners at least [20:12] Yes [20:17] http://archive.org/details/The_Analizer_Adult_CD-ROM_1995 [20:17] you're. welcome. [20:20] Lets see how many downloads in a week [20:21] I've noticed in other collections that anything with sex terms in the title dominates the stats [20:21] e.g. https://archive.org/details/g4video-web [20:22] yeah [20:22] Well, some of this will simply be a case of people being guided to thinks. [20:23] I've seen people link to stuff from reddit and something I've had for 12 years spontaneously gets 40,000 downloads. [20:24] looks like this just needs a re-derive of the pdf http://archive.org/details/kilobaudmagazine-1980-10 [20:25] there's a problem making it crash [20:26] Man, 2,800 spam accounts. Really takes the wind out of you [20:28] Sara Underwood's Naked Bike Ride: https://archive.org/details/g4tv.com-video53856 [20:29] that for example will most likely start jumping [20:31] https://twitter.com/textfiles/status/324983460114612224 [20:31] Figured I'd helpo [20:33] thanks [20:34] well this should be a big time-saver for us http://blog.archive.org/2013/04/18/trovebox-adds-support-for-archive-org-storage/ [21:01] We can hope [21:01] I should try it, huh [21:02] does that make your photos public? [21:03] just wondering
