That's a bit technical. When requesting a resource over HTTP, you can (if the server supports it) specify which range of the resource you want to retrieve. Think video file, and you want to download the part between 03:00 and 03:35. |

--metadata=date:X sets the publication date, not the upload date. The latter is the "addeddate" metadata field, but you shouldn't set that manually. |
