02:46 🔗 OrIdow6 I'd think grab-site wouldn't work with that, anyway
02:46 🔗 OrIdow6 Since it's Flash
02:46 🔗 OrIdow6 But apparently you downloaded something, if not that
02:49 🔗 OrIdow6 On that topic, Flash EOL at the end of this year
02:50 🔗 OrIdow6 I've heard fewer websites than I'd expect going down because of it, which is somewhat worrying
02:51 🔗 OrIdow6 Because presumably a lot are
02:51 🔗 OrIdow6 And because Flash is obviously difficult to save (especially if it does things over the network itself)
02:52 🔗 OrIdow6 I may see about looking for Flash sites and doing a survey of them
02:52 🔗 OrIdow6 If I have time
02:55 🔗 Arcorann_ Coordinate with the Flashpoint people if you haven't already
02:56 🔗 OrIdow6 I'm more thinking about "regular" websites that decided to use Flash for whatever reason
02:57 🔗 OrIdow6 E.g. a few months ago, there was some message board with a Flash client, that no one could figure out how to save
02:58 🔗 Arcorann_ Does that include the Flashpoint people?
02:59 🔗 OrIdow6 I don't know
02:59 🔗 Arcorann_ I know they've extracted user-created content for a number of Flash games with online content, so they might be able to help if you ask them about it
03:01 🔗 OrIdow6 At this point, I'm just talking of a survey, not even saving things
03:02 🔗 OrIdow6 And even then, that's something I may do if I feel strongly enough about it, not something I've committed to
03:02 🔗 Arcorann_ Fair enough. Just something to keep in mind

12:40 🔗 ftl PCEPPerspective is the user, i guess? the widget id is an opaque large number that's just a pointer to a bunch of settings like height/light-or-dark/various colour settings/etc

17:40 🔗 olanza Hey guys. Is there anybody here who can offer some help on viewing .warc files on the Archive Team stuff on the Internet Archive?
17:41 🔗 olanza Or would that be more for the Wayback team to answer?
17:51 🔗 maxfan8 olanza: This may be helpful https://webrecorder.net/tools
17:52 🔗 olanza Thanks maxfan. I tried that one, but the .warcS aren't working. It was from the Yahoo! Groups archive project, the files are in JSON and Base64 enc. :-/
17:54 🔗 OrIdow6 olanza: What are you trying to do? Obviously "viewing" is stretched to its limits when you are talking about JSON
17:56 🔗 olanza I was just trying to view some of the old archived stuff from my old Y! groups. But looks like Yahoo! encoded a lot of them in JSON and in Base64. So might just have to use notepad++ or similar.
17:56 🔗 olanza and a decoder. When I load the .warc files in the viewer it shows nothing, no web pages or links etc.
17:56 🔗 olanza it's not a high priority thing, I just wondered if I was doing something wrong with the WARC recorder
17:58 🔗 OrIdow6 The webrecorder player only tries to show you what it considers pages, to the exclusion of resources, so, no, that's expected
18:00 🔗 OrIdow6 There are some more "technical" tools for working with warcs at https://www.archiveteam.org/index.php?title=The_WARC_Ecosystem
18:01 🔗 olanza Ah, gotcha. Oh well. I can do it manually as well with notepad++ and the like. It seems that posts pre 2011 weren't in base64 so they're readable between the JSON code jargon, so that's a plus
18:05 🔗 OrIdow6 Good
18:08 🔗 olanza It was really good of your team members to archive it, btw. Some really old clubs and hobby groups I was with. Thanks!
18:19 🔗 OrIdow6 (I wasn't on the Yahoo Groups project, but they're here)
18:19 🔗 OrIdow6 And glad to help
