I *think* are the ones which have the head parking issue. |

The drives "park" the heads every 8 seconds, so they park, unpark, park, unpark over 1,000 times per day in a normal environment. I had to write a program to ping the drives every 6 seconds to stop this... |
14:49

That... |

anyway, let me go ask if its sorted. |

Smiley: That's not necessarily a bad thing, for a "low-use" storage device. For a system drive or high-use drive? Sure, it's terrible. |
14:50

also i'm not using it in my system |

anyone know a tool to copy single files into not-yet existing subdirectories? eg "copy test /a/b/c/" where the imaginative tool "copy" would create the /a/b/c/ structure if needed |
16:26
🔗
|
Schbirid |
rsync only does that for one missing subdirectory (like mkdir, not mkdir -p) |

after reading all the latest research on hard drives there is no good anything for fleshing out possible bad drives. All the "methods" only catch DOA drives and do not guarantee a pass through the 3-4 month failure mark |

the solution is RAID 1 or 6 |
