07:53 🔗 vitzli Linux voice is a linux magazine, they go open-source (under CC-like license) after, I think, half a year
07:54 🔗 vitzli They did kickstarter/indiegogo campaign couple years ago, something to do with linux format split

10:56 🔗 atrocity https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/31269708/telstra-free-data-day-downloads-sydney-man-makes-nearly-one-terabyte-of-downloads/
10:57 🔗 atrocity this is silly. i know AU had data caps and stuff and it's EXPENSIVE for internet there, but... if you're going to make one day allow unlimited anything, why the hell do they not have speed caps on shit?
10:58 🔗 atrocity i pay $70/month for 50/50 unlimited (in the states) with no caps. do they not do that in other countries?

11:44 🔗 ohhdemgir atrocity, I pay $25/month for 100/20 unlimited in the UK with no caps... ohh and that's on my PHONE with unlimited tethering!! US prices are INSANE!! My home line is 100/100 unlimited @ $18/month
11:48 🔗 Kazzy 100/100 in the uk??
11:48 🔗 Kazzy best i can get is 80/20 with BT
12:10 🔗 alfie ohhdemgir: I pay £20/m for the same on my phone :P
12:10 🔗 alfie (iD, by any chance?)
12:11 🔗 alfie ohhdemgir: also, where are you getting that home connection, i'm in the market :P
12:12 🔗 ohhdemgir alfie, was roughly adjusting to $ it's like 16GBP
12:12 🔗 alfie >.<
12:12 🔗 alfie 30-day rolling contract, or?
12:12 🔗 ohhdemgir no contract, it was a 12/m but they brought out the same deal on payg
12:14 🔗 SimpBrain o.O
12:15 🔗 alfie ohhdemgir: that's impressive, even for UK pricing
12:16 🔗 Kazzy i haven't even been able to find unlimited phone data plans in the UK :(
12:16 🔗 Kazzy i have something pathetic like 3gb/mo atm
12:16 🔗 alfie Kazzy: cute :P my usage for last month was... hmm... 30gb, and that was a light usage month. :P
12:17 🔗 Kazzy where? looked at iD and all i could see was 15gb max
12:17 🔗 alfie you gotta go instore for this plan, i'm also not sure they do it anymore
12:17 🔗 ohhdemgir Kazzy, the only provider that does it is Three, that price is a 4G sim only contract or the payg sim
12:18 🔗 ohhdemgir they say unlimited data and 8GB tethering but on android devices they dont track tethering and this is my average monthly usage https://i.imgur.com/i6awdaf.png
12:18 🔗 alfie ohhdemgir: i left three because they _didn't_ do unlim+tethering
12:18 🔗 alfie phones in the UK are a shitshow
12:19 🔗 ohhdemgir alfie, read my last message
12:19 🔗 alfie aaaah, right
12:19 🔗 Kazzy hmm, i have an old nexus 5 sitting around, might be worth picking up a sim-only contract for that, cheers :)
12:19 🔗 alfie i'm gonna continue squatting this contract because iD's support is good and three messed me around in the past, besides, it's only a few quid in it
12:20 🔗 ohhdemgir i was in store a month ago and they said they can't accurately track tethering, especially on droid devices so they just dont bother and the 8GB is just there as a guide and they dont expect people to use more
12:22 🔗 alfie ohhdemgir: you must have much better stores where you are
12:22 🔗 Kazzy i was on giffgaff last year, 99% sure their tethering tracking was just user-agent tracking which resulted in a 30min network ban
12:22 🔗 alfie the three store in watford is staffed by deliberately obtuse imbeciles
12:23 🔗 ohhdemgir alfie, official Three store, though I did hook up with the girl having met her on tinder last year
12:23 🔗 alfie okay, gotta shower and go to work now. seey'all
12:23 🔗 alfie (must be nice being attractive)
12:23 🔗 ohhdemgir xD
12:27 🔗 Kazzy and 100/100 broadband? where's that from ohhdemgir?
12:28 🔗 Kazzy only places that i've seen do more than 20 up are gigler/hyperoptic
12:28 🔗 SimpBrain no isp likes giving 1:1
12:29 🔗 Kazzy i know, but if it exists *somewhere* here, i'd switch in a heartbeat
12:30 🔗 ohhdemgir local wireless provider that fits mimosa dishes, common speeds are 11MB/s down / 8MB/s up .. I run my own provider and that just me trying out the competition, 100/100 fiber/hardline costs about much more, I and likely my competition can only provide that speed by using multiple teamed fiber lines or leased lines
12:31 🔗 Kazzy damn :(
12:32 🔗 Kazzy well, back to waiting for BT to bring FTTP back then
12:33 🔗 SimpBrain you'll die waiting for that
12:34 🔗 Kazzy definitely feels that way. shame virgin media only give you 200/12 with stupid throttling rules too, basically means you're stuck with BT for anything decent
12:35 🔗 SimpBrain has quit IRC (Leaving)
12:38 🔗 ohhdemgir Plusnet are more lenient that BT and the speeds are fairly evenly matched
12:38 🔗 Kazzy more lenient in what way?
12:39 🔗 dashcloud has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out)
12:44 🔗 ohhdemgir you can max out the line 24/7 at full speed and they dont care
12:47 🔗 dashcloud has joined #archiveteam-bs
12:47 🔗 alfie ohhdemgir: you may be warming me up to plusnet...
12:49 🔗 ohhdemgir I've tried all isps I can get locally just to test who are most lenient that way etc so I can resell it wirelessly, I use my BT lines as backup/failover XD
12:58 🔗 Kazzy hmm, can't say i've ever had bt complain to me about usage, though i've never maxed it 24/7, only for a couple of days in a row
13:03 🔗 ohhdemgir that's just my ott test, leave a box running pulling down data 24/7 over different protocols for a few months after it's installed, if i don't get a letter I've even called and asked 'is what I'm doing okay' and the only opposition I've met is a vague warning that I should upload torrents
13:03 🔗 ohhdemgir shouldn't***
