03:31 🔗 atphoenix Ryz, per this article, invidious does not use the YT API. https://greycoder.com/invidious-a-private-front-end-to-youtube/
03:32 🔗 atphoenix same is said on github. You can run your own instance https://github.com/omarroth/invidious
03:33 🔗 Ryz Ah, but does that mean watching a video from Invidious means a view wasn't given to YouTube? oo;
03:34 🔗 atphoenix and FWIW, I didn't realious Invidious was actually a word. But it is and it's kind of appropriate as a response to unpleasant UI changes that YT is making. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/invidious
03:35 🔗 atphoenix I assumed it was a play on the words video+insidious
03:55 🔗 JAA It doesn't use the API, but it could emulate the vote counter the way the YouTube web app does it (which also doesn't use the API directly as far as I know).
03:59 🔗 JAA Ultimately, it depends on how YouTube counts views. I never looked into it, but there are various ways how that can be done, e.g. counting watch page accesses, counting video stream accesses, or a dedicated "report view" count sent from the browser. I can guarantee though that there is no official description how it works since Google very much wants to prevent people from manipulating views.
03:59 🔗 atphoenix are YT's daily watch limits API based? (I think they are (at least in part) from what I read on kodi threads)
