01:13 🔗 Sum1 Hey all, could anyone tell me whether there's a way to publicly download archivebot backups? I might have asked this before, couldn't remember if there was.
01:27 🔗 yipdw Specular: yes, go to e.g. https://archive.org/details/archiveteam_archivebot_go_021 and download the WARCs
01:28 🔗 yipdw at some point I will write up something that makes that accessible via the bot
01:30 🔗 yipdw actually, that would be a good idea anyway, since wayback obeys robot exclusions etc
01:30 🔗 yipdw whereas We Don't Have To
01:34 🔗 Specular Thanks for the link. It's strange, the archive appears to be many gigs smaller than what was reported via the dashboard originally.
01:34 🔗 DFJustin the dashboard reports size pre-gzip
01:35 🔗 Specular Ah, right.
01:36 🔗 Specular Compression ftw.
02:03 🔗 balrog dashcloud: wow. that's really nice;
02:03 🔗 balrog there's a lot of stuff out there for macwrite and old mac word that's extremely important historically
02:48 🔗 dashcloud some of the folks behind that work on a tool to help understand various file formats and explore formats: https://gitorious.org/re-lab
04:16 🔗 dashcloud balrog: if you still have your AOL stuff around, check and see if you can download any files from them- everything was coming up not found for me
04:18 🔗 balrog ok I will try
04:21 🔗 balrog dashcloud: we're the libraries
04:21 🔗 balrog dashcloud: were the libraries still present?
04:22 🔗 dashcloud everything is still there, except every link to a file seems to be dead- you can open any library, click on any file, get any description, just not download any file
04:22 🔗 balrog hm :(
04:23 🔗 balrog does like the Apple II collection work?
04:23 🔗 balrog and what version of AOL are you using?
04:23 🔗 dashcloud I was using AOL 5.0
04:23 🔗 dashcloud this page: http://www.applefritter.com/aol had me excited- I emailed the person, but heard nothing yet
04:24 🔗 dashcloud there's another person or group here: http://14forums.blogspot.com/2013/06/14forums.html that did a screenshot recreation of AOL (archived by archivebot)
04:47 🔗 chfoo an update about dascottjr's youtube channel i was talking about earlier: the account was suspended before i could research on using the api to grab the metadata or figure out how to make snapshots of the pages.
04:52 🔗 dashcloud youtube-dl or something similar doesn't cover all the metadata you wanted? (or at least some of it?)
04:56 🔗 chfoo what i wanted was to save the comments and its related metadata (not the actual video metadata) because dascottjr said he had fond memories of the youtube community
06:16 🔗 arkhive can anything on Intel's AppUp be saved?
06:17 🔗 arkhive I know we can save the page but is there anyway we can save the data/apps/so on
12:26 🔗 kelenken anyone know a way to download videos of of chicagoreader.com articles?
12:34 🔗 arkiver sorry, little problem with my internet
12:34 🔗 arkiver Do you have the link to the article kelenken?
12:42 🔗 kelenken yeah, sure: http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/field-museum-emily-graslie-brain-scoop-youtube/Content?oid=12236428
12:44 🔗 arkiver oooh....
12:44 🔗 arkiver yeah that's a bit harder
12:44 🔗 arkiver many f4f streams...
12:44 🔗 arkiver not sure about that
12:44 🔗 arkiver maybe someone else knows how to save that?
13:10 🔗 kelenken doesn't seem like it huh?
13:10 🔗 kelenken Well thanks for your time anyway.
18:49 🔗 yipdw dashcloud: speaking of AOL, I need to see if they have the Rhy'din archives still on their servers
21:49 🔗 dashcloud if you've got some pointer to the item, I'd be happy to look- otherwise, there's good instructions on the wiki for getting AOL running under Wine (obviously it's easier if you have a Windows VM- more choices)
