03:52 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW Medowar: do you (or anyone else) have any more specific suggestions about alternates to the current URLteam wiki page?
03:53 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW I think luckcolor suggested google docs.
03:54 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW I'll suggest keeping it on the wiki, but breaking it up into smaller pages (with them all transcoded into one big page that can be looked at only when needed (i.e. for searching))
03:57 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW hoblu-es started
04:01 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW got results
04:01 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW hoblu-es got results, including single character ones
04:02 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW Medowar: pops.ci doesn't resolve for me. How did you get the results you mentioned for it?
04:27 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW http://pastebin.com/z0yiN4ju -- now added to wiki
04:31 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW http://pastebin.com/raw/3aS6mq3P and http://pastebin.com/raw/GTBg7BL7 copied into wiki, but not integrated yet
04:31 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW but now at least if pastebin.com blows them up, we have a copy
05:09 ๐Ÿ”— JesseW I just finally got around to removing a few hundred (!) duplicates from the lists-to-be-integrated

09:11 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar whoops
09:11 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar well, pops.ci does work for me
09:17 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor JesseW status update on the url Unshortner for archived shortners: currently implementing database lookup of an entry
09:17 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor If i manage to finish it the way i want it
09:18 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor it would support: Aliases for same shorner es bit.ly
09:18 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar nice.
09:19 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor Large datasets using orizontal scalability (running the same software on different machines in case the dataset becomes big)
09:19 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar How big is the bitly database right now?
09:19 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor mmh
09:19 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor dunno i'll lookup the archive.org collection
09:20 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor well it's not ready yet
09:20 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor :P
09:20 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor on the todo list:
09:20 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor implement database lokup
09:20 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor implement database creatiion by parsing an input file
09:21 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor i will probably not support the urlteam format for import if there isn't a libary (i'll check)
09:21 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor i will just make it so it imports text files with shortcode|resolved url
09:22 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor it will be trivial i suppose to normalize database dump for import
09:23 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar please add quotationmarks around the resolved url, I have seen some crazy shit like pipes in urls.
09:24 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor mmh i'll see about that :) i'm not at that phase yet
09:25 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor i should get around to ask archive to make a repo on the github when i'm done
09:25 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar JesseW: not sure if it works for that scale, but maybe trello. Allows easy organisation, categorisation, collaboration
09:26 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor or slack
09:26 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor it has plugins for every possible service
09:26 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor including trello
09:27 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor but it will be a redundant chat as slack has it own chat
09:27 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor a bot bridge to irc can be made i suppose
09:33 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar I dont see the advantage of slack. Slack is just a fancier chat app, right?
09:34 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar trello is more a board to organise tasks.
09:34 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar And also there is wekan, an self-hosted alternative to trello
09:34 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor mmh
09:35 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor https://github.com/wekan/wekan
09:36 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor well you can just deploy it for free on heroku so i think we can give it a go
11:45 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar they also have docker
11:45 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar I have started an test instance
11:45 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar http://sv1.ggsrv.de:8080
11:47 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar http://sv1.ggsrv.de:8080/b/27wpoGMGreb7TfCGo/urlteam
11:54 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar looks pretty solid, I think we can get all the infos we want into that. But please, join and give feedback. PM me your name if you are registered, so I can give permission. THis is just a testboard, not ment to be final
12:47 ๐Ÿ”— VADemon has joined #urlteam
13:40 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor Guys can someone do me a favor?
13:41 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor On my spreadsheet of the dead url shortners can you add per service all the avaible links to the dumps we have?
13:43 ๐Ÿ”— VADemon has quit IRC (Quit: left4dead)
14:42 ๐Ÿ”— WinterFox has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection)
15:03 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work I don't know of any way to make global text modifications (like I did last night) on Trello. If you can get it working, great, but I'm doubtful. And I agree that Slack seems like a non-starter.
15:05 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work luckcolor: I'll try to remember to do that tonight. You could just download the lists of files for all the incremental ones, and identify the ones you want from that ( the files are named per-project)
15:18 ๐Ÿ”— VADemon has joined #urlteam
15:40 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar JW_Work: I doubt, that weยดd need a huge chunk of the edits you did with the new system. Why bother sorting in alphabetic order, when you can use search function. True, some of the work cant be done in trello but if we keep a continous format on titles, the majority of work would be as easy to do as right now.
15:41 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar and creating cards for each shortener makes it easier to track the progress.
15:41 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar But maybe you are right. We shouldnt completely abandon the current system. Maybe use a combination of both.
15:44 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar Use the wiki as full list of all shorteners and use trello as tracking plattform for active projects. This way you still can do the mass editing but also beeing able of tracking the progress of certain cards
15:44 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work You can use search right now
15:44 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work The point of alphebetical order is to make *diffs* useful (by providing a definitive location)
15:45 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work AFAIK, trello doesn't support diffs much at all. That's a deal breaker, if so.
15:45 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar what exactly do you use diffs for?
15:46 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work To see what used to have been said about a shortener, or what changes someone else made, etc.
15:47 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work Version control is a *good* thing โ€” I'm unenthusiastic about losing it.
15:48 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar tracking changes: Progress sidebar. history of a shortener: each card has an activity stream.
15:49 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar afk 3 hrs, driving home, germany vs ireland
15:49 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work enjoy the drive
15:50 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work that's better โ€” but it doesn't track what columns a card was in, does it?
15:50 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work also, what's the backup situation โ€” is it easy to extract the content?
15:51 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work and how searchable is it โ€” currently, all the data is easily findable in search engines, which I think is a good thing โ€” is trello as easily findable that way?
16:06 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor as about data backup it's using mongoDB as the databse instance
16:06 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor atleast that's what the Dockerfile says
16:06 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor so dumps can be done
16:06 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor and diffs made i suppose
16:07 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor you can actually directly query the database it has a json api
17:48 ๐Ÿ”— Start_ is now known as Start
19:19 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar that is depending on how we realize it. If we use trello direct or a self hosted wekan instance, which is basically the same, only self hosted
19:19 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar also JW_work, it does track what items have been moved.
19:20 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work ok, that may be sufficient change tracking, then
19:20 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar and wekan has a direct api as mentioned:
19:20 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar <luckcolor> you can actually directly query the database it has a json api
19:21 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar http://sv1.ggsrv.de:8080/api/boards/27wpoGMGreb7TfCGo?authToken=0T7bSmiusakkqbu9t5NKf88c9XZmveq2O98VRbUWMRU
19:21 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work It's still a lot less visible to search engines, though, no?
19:23 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar in what context? everything can be direct linked, if that is what you mean
19:23 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar how google treats it in terms of pagerank? No idea
19:25 ๐Ÿ”— Medowar also you can make it public or private
20:22 ๐Ÿ”— JW_work it's farther from plain text, as such, it's harder for straightforward search engines to understand
21:13 ๐Ÿ”— luckcolor Wel Medowar i meant the MongoDB has apis but yeah if wekan has apis then good
