Still, wikiteam is one of the nicest projects. Wikis are usually openly licensed, they have a usable API, all they need is someone to do backups ;-) |

Well at least I'll learn something on most Wikis, even if it is just Star Wars fanfiction. |

I am afraid that most of the Yahoo Video videos would make me dumber the longer I watch them |

I wanted to download all of wikipedia's images and put them on mirrored HDDs and then put half the HDDs in a safe deposit box, but current HDD prices made me reconsider |

Maybe I should let some water evaporate until it forms a cloud where I can then store a mirror of all wikipedia images. |

cant you use Ia as mirror? |

IA |

Hm, maybe, although then I would somehow have to put the images into tar files because they like big chunks instead of many small files |
16:14

emijrp |
you can archive by month |
16:14

thats the approach i want to do |

but i have not developed the script |

better by day |

~5 GB new images /day |

I think we will have the same problem as wikipedia itself though: Copyrighted images will get uploaded. To remove/block them we would have to remove the whole 5 gb file |
16:17
π

Maybe put all new files into quarantine for a week or month, only then upload the tar to the IA |
16:17
π

IA is not very worried for that, right? they scrapes the whole internet every day |
16:18
π

emijrp |
by the way, you can download monthly from 2005, 2006, etc |
16:18
π

But they allow you to remove your stuff |
