[11:02] We are a german humanitarian aid organization and are building a nursing school in burkina faso. For that reason – and the lack of internet access in this outskirts – we are trying to dump medical related wikis to use them from a stick with a portable wiki on it. A few are public, others belong to companies and/or are running on intranets we are allowed to use for that. Since we are of [11:02] course not allowed to have access to the servers itself, we have to use the dumpgenerator.py your wikiteam is offering on github. The problem we run into with this is, that we are running python (2.7.11) under Windows7Pro. Which should be fine, but it isn´t. When we start the script with „/python/pythin.exe /wikiteam/dumpgenerator.py http://www.url.com –xml –images – path=/todump [11:02] we were receiving error messages regarding the kitchen and argparse module (which should be already in the py2.7.11 package). I´ve manually installed them with pip (without errors) and run the script again. The same errors came up, saying no module for kitchen and argparse. So I installed them again with easy_install. Despite that the folders have been create and the files are nested within [11:02] I now get this: https://abload.de/img/console9nuia.jpg . So I´ve installed html and entities via pip but this problem remains. The weird thing is: we´ve discussed that problem yesterday for hours with others in #python.de and in the end we´ve found out, that this is a repreducable bug on windows platforms – but in the opposite it works out of the box on linux machines. That´s the point [11:02] where I would need some assistance, since we don´t have linux, nor are we familiar with it. I´ld really appreciate if you could show me a way to get beyond this “no module” error. [11:06] BTW: Thomas Waldmann, one of the co-authors of the argparse module told me to alter the dumpgenerator.py and to get rid of those "try" and exit rules. Now it looks like this: https://gist.github.com/Sperber03/a7487b0171f89d4fa10484d93e7a2c68 - and since that at least the no module errors regarding kitchen and argparse are gone. [11:07] Could anyone assist me with that html.entities error? [11:13] I'm downloading the wiki [11:26] *** r3c0d3x has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds) [11:36] Thanks, nemo, but this only one part of the problems. We have 2 others which are in an intranet you don´t have access to - and of course tha doesn´t solve the problem with the script itself for use by individuals. [11:44] *** r3c0d3x has joined #wikiteam [11:55] Who is "we", again? Perhaps it's easier if you ask whoever has access to the server in question to run https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:DumpBackup.php [12:11] We are the Surgical Mission Saarland. The DumpBackup doesn´t fit the needs by it´s restrictions (images), as we have to train domestic people where many of them are analphabets and visualization is key. [12:11] Wouldn´t it be easier to hep us fix that particular problem with the script? [12:13] BTW. where can I download the dump you´ve created? [14:16] *** Start has quit IRC (Quit: Disconnected.) [14:29] *** vitzli has joined #wikiteam [15:09] Marv_FFM: images are saved by copying the directory they're in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Backing_up_a_wiki#File_system [15:13] Marv_FFM: downloads are at https://archive.org/download/wiki-pflegewikide [15:28] *** Start has joined #wikiteam [15:46] Nemo_bis, we don´t have access to the intranet servers - we´ve been just granted access to the frontend, not the backend, and we are allowed to use their wiki for our purpose. But at the same time we have to do this on our own as they can´t (or won´t) assist us, as they state. [15:49] *** Start has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 260 seconds) [15:50] Regarding the dump. Thanks, but the dump is only a minor part of the wiki. All images from F-Z are missing and the dump from the year 2014 is already over 300M while the new one from today is 91M big. [15:52] Stuff may have been deleted, or it may be a bug [15:53] ? [15:53] Images F-Z of course are available on the wiki. [16:00] What I am wondering about - is this now a backup tool, that shall be available and used by the public or is it targeted only for a specific in-group? Or is this some kind of secret how to solve the error from the dumpgenerator.py-script to prevent others from using it? If thats the case, may be someone should note that somewhere since I feel more likely unwelcomed as anything else. [16:06] *** Start has joined #wikiteam [16:07] *** Start has quit IRC (Client Quit) [16:20] *** vitzli has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) [16:36] It's for people who know how to run python scripts [16:38] And you guess i don´t or what? Pretty arrogant.. [16:39] The proble is the script, not my python skills. So you´ld better fix this script before accusing anyone to be unable to use them. [16:39] I'm not accusing, just stating the intended audience. [16:59] *** Start has joined #wikiteam [17:04] *** VADemon has joined #wikiteam [17:16] So, you´re saying this backup-tool is for linux/unix OS only, since this seems the only OS where the script runs without errors - or vice versa: it´s not intended for a windows OS, even when py is running? Wow, that´s a nice way to say "fuck off". Kudos, Nemo_bis, chapeau.
