bluesoultrying to scan everything as well but i don't really have an archival-quality scanner
also having a heck of a time with securom on many of the discs, so when that comes up I'm just taking the contents and zipping them. i want to learn more about reversing/defeating securom
might've been some other technology from securom, safedisc or some such

Somebody2wm_: what do you mean "useless" -- is it completely random data, or what? [04:47]
wm_Somebody2: random broken blocks
depending on exact protection used
you basically - for some - dump an entirely broken disc
that the protection corrects on the fly usually
anydvd also had a game thing, company is slysoft
that works surely for any game, including recent and BD
daemontools and older should do securom and that crap fine
[04:48]
***Odd0002 has quit IRC (Read error: Operation timed out) [04:54]
Somebody2wm_: thanks, good to know. So it would still have *some* of the data, just not enough to actually play the game. [05:08]
wm_possibly yea, some start and give you wrong gameplay (they were fun, have to admit)
some have the copy protection broken by default (C&C games, red alert 1,2,3) and some will not start or error
[05:08]
Somebody2Would such a rip be fixable after the fact, if someone took it and *then* reversed the protection; or is there critical data left out by such a rip? [05:10]
***Odd0002 has joined #archiveteam-bs [05:14]
wm_not that i know, for some it might be though
but the tools you need are probably the same as to rip it correctly in the first place

superkuhVirtue signaling is the modern term.
Tor project was infected with it a couple years back and jumped the shark with all the false rape sjw plays.
[08:39]
atluxityfalse? [08:42]
superkuhAs in, there was never any proof given or actual legal claims made.
Just a coordinates social media attack.
Er, coordinated.
[08:43]
atluxityso nobody has passed judgment that concludes it to be false then [08:43]
superkuhYes, that's true. But I hope you see the problem with that kind of thinking. [08:43]
atluxityI see both sides :)
saying something is false is picking a side
[08:44]
superkuhJTRIG/COINTELPRO/etc in my opinion. [08:44]
atluxitymight be
I have more trust in the accusers than I do in the accused.
[08:45]
superkuhI guess they should've actually made a legal claim or provided evidence then. [08:46]
atluxityI dont really care either way. If someone has been raped, but is unable to prove it, I am not willing to tell them to sit down and be quiet. There is not a 1:1 relation between criminal and convicts. [08:54]
.... (idle for 19mn)
superkuhI heard you raped and killed a young girl in 1990.
I'm not saying it, and there's no proof, but we should consider that it plausible and act accordingly.
[09:13]
atluxitysure
thats actually a good example of a weak accusation, but you can maybe build on it
