Odd0002: Yeah, CPU frequencies haven't changed much in the past 15 years or so. It's essentially a power efficiency problem; going to even higher clock rates leads to a much higher power consumption with only small performance gains. That's why everything has been moving to more parallelism since the early 2000s (multiple cores, multiple threads per core, etc.). |
